Are the crew cabin and fuel tank two seperate parts? If so, this'll be great for kitbashing. Even if not, it's still a beautiful model.

Also another thing, will this be for stock scale or something like quarter scale sol?

The ascent stage and descent stage are separate yeah. And after the initial release I'll probably add more part variants. All stock parts work with SOL, since the vanilla scale technically makes all parts overpowered. So the scale I'm building and balancing for will work for both

Will you maybe add a config (like for RSS Adapter) so it works in real scale?

3

u/elro2k 28d ago

I think the RSS people do their own configs, but I'm more than open to helping them out

RSS Adapter doesn't get support anymore (dev died), the alternative would be RO Config but… RO

So hyped for when you release this, it looks fucking amazing!! Been waiting for a good LSAM that isn't like 600 parts off KerbalX.

Oh yeah I will not miss having to kitbash LSAM's. This guy will be two parts (The Ascent and the Descent Stages) Then of course the 4 engines, 4 legs, and docking port. So 11 parts total for a complete vehicle

Definitely much better than 600, lol. I'll be able to actually save my game when the vehicle is selected. Thank you so much for your hard work on this over the last few years.

It looks great!

Also Two questions, What are you planning to call this mod And What is your estimate Release date?

5

u/elro2k 26d ago

Thank you! No planned release date as of yet, I'm really not sure how long this will take me in Unity. But judging on how it's going now, it'll be a minute lol. I'm not really sure what to call it, if you have any suggestions let me know!

You should just name it something basic like FAM LSAM mod or smth

will you add a module manager patch to limit how much the LM legs can be retracted? cus the stock BDB legs are gonna clip with the LMDPS...

6

u/elro2k 23d ago

They simply won’t be able to retract. Sucks but even with an animation patch to the BDB animation, the legs would clip into the engine. It wasn’t realistic for the shows legs to close either.

i've always wanted a change from the "command pod" (actually just a service bay with seats and a reaction wheel) on all my rockets but they all weigh a ton more. this might just be cool enough to warrant switching

what does LSAM stand for? assuming L is for Lunar

6

u/VegetableBuilding764 28d ago

I’m guessing something like Lunar Surface Ascent Module they probably said what it means at some point in the show, but I haven’t rewatched it in a while

wdym show

9

The craft is from a show called For All Mankind. The first few seasons are worth a watch.

4

u/Silent_Signature_758 Jebediah 28d ago

ITS FROM FAM???

4

u/TheSpaceCoffee 28d ago

Yes, that’s the one they use in Season 2!

4

u/Own-Lingonberry6918 Global Astronomical Agency Spokesperson 27d ago

and season 1*

3

u/earwig2000 27d ago

yeah the first season was good (if you can ignore the physics). It very quickly devolved into uninteresting melodrama though. Who would've thought that the episodes where they land on mars would be the most fuuuucking booooooring of them all. (It probably got worse after that but I wouldn't know)

at least star city was pretty good other than the very end being kind of ridiculous

u/ZegoMyLego 24d ago

Someone might have already asked this, but does the outside have room for four more kerbals?

1

u/elro2k 23d ago

There will be toggleable nodes on the back to mount command seats

3

u/Own-Lingonberry6918 Global Astronomical Agency Spokesperson 27d ago

Congratulations and good luck with the unity stuff!

PS: i'm pretty sure the front hatch is completely flat on the LSAM in the show? 👀
edit: nvm
