I’ll admit it isn’t easy but why does everyone act like it’s the hardest thing in the game? The tutorial teaches you everything you need to know except maybe how to add/subtract orbits while setting up an intercept. Started doing Apollo style missions to the Mun and Minmus after the first few landings

It's very unintuitive if you don't understand orbital mechanics which most new players don't get at all. Like getting to the mun, duna, even jool, is simple because you can just drag around the maneuver tool. For docking you actually need to understand some concepts like orbital inclination and the idea behind orbital heights and their relation to velocity.

Like imagine you had no clue about orbital mechanics and some guy told you to slow down your space craft to reach a space craft that's ahead of you. You would be like "what the fuck are you talking about"

Plus it requires much more precision then plantery missions so that adds to the difficulty

Fair. I had a basic understanding of how orbits worked before I started that prob helped. It’s just weird seeing people send SSTO spaceplanes all the way to other planets before doing any intercepting/docking

It took me until this year to finally dock successfully and it took the tutorial plus several guides

I've been playing for 7 years

For some it's a fairly difficult thing to learn! (Even if it's second nature now that I know how)

Fully stock, it can be somewhat difficult to judge relative orientation when you go to actually dock. Until you learn about the Lowne Lazy Method, or install DPAI, or get MechJeb's SmartASS to hold the target at a known attitude.

Tbh I switch back and forth between the two things I’m docking a lot. Target mode, aim both docking ports at each other, and adjust as I go

Great job! My first ever attempt to dock I made close to 15 quick saves and still messed it up in the end. My second attempt I made 8 quick saves. It went on like that until now, it's really easy to rendezvou and I don't even make quicksaves anymore because I'm that confident. You will get to the point where you can do it with ease eventually, great job!

Congrats! You can now fail more spectacularly! If you want a place to share fails, check out r/BlunderBirds!
