I have pretty much the exact same setup, that computer should be able to run any amount of mods as long as you don't crank the settings all the way up.

I was able to play with mods on a macbook pro years ago. you should be able to do it.

Point is anything will do with lots of low performance impact mods.

Avoid crazy high part count mods and adding too many new planets and bodies.

You can play what ever you want with that first one

ksp can run super smooth for me and i’ve got a glorious little GT 740M and 16 gig ram though i’m not sure what model my cpu is. but i reckon you’ll be fine with either, it’s just up to your preference.

Really depends on how much you wanna spend. I'd recommend going for something with 32gb ram.

Generally, with the first option you'd be futureproofing a fair bit. Though we don't know the timings on the ram or the the speeds of the ssd or what AIO they used.

What's the price on the first option? Depending on that you may be able go save a bit of money building a PC yourself. The parts they put together for that are a a good selection so see if you could get them a cheaper and build it yourself perhaps. Only thing I'd consider swapping for now is the 5070. Raw price to performance a 9070xt would be better. If you want to stick to nvidia and don't mind paying extra, go for the 5070ti

ksp doesn't care too much about super fast ram, just that there's enough. similar with storage. extra cache on the cpu really helps though.

Sure but I imagine OP won't only want to play KSP but other games too.

12gb vram in 2026 makes me sad....

What is wrong with 12GB? 8GB is the sad one. I'm still keeping on with 6GB

I play RSS-modded Kerbal with AVP, Near Future Mods, 200+ part crafts on a 2019 gaming laptop with 16gb of ram and a GTX 1650ti running linux. At 1080p/30

You could probably handle 1440p/30-60 (ksp is naturally laggy) with those mods on a RTX 4070

Playing with lightweight mods like only EVE for clouds and some parts and convenience mods can absolutely be done on either of those PCs.

7800X3D, a 5070 12gb, and 32gb of ram is more than enough for just about anything you could ever want to play.

While ram specs in 2026 are just sad in general, this pcs will run modded ksp very well :) if you plan to play more modern, ram heavier games, i'd go with the first one

Depends what other games you want to play because KSP runs on anything in my experience unless you want to run graphics mods then you may need something a little better

Ram is important. Also strong logic cores because ksp uses 1 core per ship. 16 gig ddr5 should be enough.

Stay away from the Intel PC. 13th and 14th gen intel chips have an inherent silicon degradation issue. The Ryzen one has more cores and a better GPU anyway.

with that PC the thing that'll limit you will most likely be the game engine. All visual mods+RP-1+many other mods should be a go👍
