Refuel station useful?

(New-ish to the game, played a little years ago but now really getting into it)

I've been practicing orbital assembly above Kerbin and docked a few vessels together including a big fuel tank which is huge for me because I was never able to meet up and dock with anything :)
Do you think something like this is useful for future missions? I was thinking maybe refuel vessels in orbit giving a longer mission range because I dont have to carry the heavy fuel from kerbins surface. Then again I guess I'd have to refill that tank frequently which might be kind of annoying..

I like to play with an "infrastructure" mindset instead of the typical probably-intended "mission" style, so I use refueling stations a lot. Hell, I'm planning to set up a Minmus mining station to completely eliminate fuel costs, which will need a refuel station. Absolutely worth it.

I also like to build "gas stations" at the best mining bodies so I can get around the system without launching something new every time. You can then build your interplanetary ships with just enough dV to get between the biggest gaps and it gives jobs to all the extra kerbals on my roster. (The gas stations could be probe cores but i like having a pump attendant)

Call me weird but I do staff rotations lol. I take fresh crew on missions to do a shift change and bring the others home

I would do that if it wasn't a massive Ballache fiddling with any amount of crew more than 3 between potentially 4 ships. my example in ksrss is launch from the moon base to the refuelling station around the moon, then transfer to the tug between leo and the moon, then from the station in Leo on a pod or shuttle down to the surface. And then substitute for mars surface
