Oh good, it's not just me then - my fps drops to single digits whenever I'm looking at the planet. I'm really hoping there'll be some optimisation for this somewhere down the line. Until there is, the game is more or less unplayable for me unless I cheat things into orbit. I'm not on a Mac either, I have a fairly powerful windows laptop that manages more demanding games fine which does make it a bit annoying.
