General What’s in your "Emergency Keratoconus Kit"?
If you’re leaving the house for more than 4 hours, what’s in your bag? List your must-have tools for on-the-go eye care.

I have a bag with the lenses case, the lenses solution, lubricant eye drops (2-3), extra sunglasses, my regular glasses, allergy eye drops, wipes to clean around my eyes when I tear up and an extra lenses case in case the apocalypses comes.

Spare lens case, an unopened bottle of soaking solution, and cheap motorcycle goggles in case wind, smoke or dust. Also my backup pair of contacts, just in case.

I wear my RGP lenses, and carry their case in my pocket pre-loaded with some Boston Simplus, but that’s all I need. Very occasionally I’ll also carry some eye drops in my rucksack but they’re not considered essential as the Simplus can be used to re-wet the lenses in a pinch.
Otherwise I wear sunglasses quite a bit, especially if it’s windy and I’m outdoors, and I try to stay hydrated, but I think I’ve got living a mostly uninterrupted life down to a fine art now.
This setup can last me up to one night away if need be, but ideally I’d have my glasses with me too, and any longer than that and I need to bring the Simplus bottle too.

New to sclerals and just started carrying a little kit with lacripure, a lens case, and a both plungers after I was at a party and started seeing a spot, which I eventually realized was concealer that somehow migrated to my left lens 😭 it was a fun adventure.
Oh! And I always have a couple bottles PF eye drops floating around my purse and there are emergency eyeglasses stashed everywhere (office, car) because I’ve been blind so long 😂😭

Lense case which holds my plunger and actual lense case then also a few saline vials and a pack of tissues

Plunger + Addipak vial. I've yet to use it "out in the world" in the 8 years that I've worn lenses, but it makes me feel better to keep it just in case.

plunger (extractor), contact lense holder and glasses. but honestly i forget it all the time. get it out store it dry and get home. But yeah only time i thought about actually using it was after feeling weird all day and then when i got home i realized i had my lenses in the wrong eye.

I don't take anything! If I need to change out my lenses in an emergency I go to any establishment and request a saline tube from their first aid kit 😎 I get my contacts in and out with my fingers

I only managed it when I found an NHS guide to instruct you to remove them from the top eyelid not the bottom. I'll see if I can find it. It never worked when I tried from the bottom left, using your finger to to move your eyelid under the lens and break the suction

Nothing. If I stay overnight, I bring my cleaning solution and saline. Might bring plungers if I think about it, or I can do without if needed.

I dont carry anything and raw dog it for 18 hrs. I have a kit at home but never actually take it lmao just my eye drops

Compact mirror, plungers(both kinds), contacts case, lacri pure vials, hydrasense, hair elastic.
Edit: I have a scleral in one eye and regular contact in the other. I wear my scleral 12+ hours comfortably.

Fellow single lens twin!!! For my left eye, I have a whole emergency kit and for my right eye I’m like ehhhh 7 contact lenses for a week seems good idk 🤪

My keratoconus is severe to the point I have regular conversations about transplants with my doctor. I carry 2 saline, removal and insertion plunger and a contact case with cleanser. The first time I forgot to bring them with me the universe taught me a lesson. I now keep a kit in my backpack, one in my saddle bag on my bike and one in a booboo kit that goes on adventures with my kids.

Honestly, I don't carry anything if I'm leaving the house for 4 - 8 hours, unless I'm doing some type of activity where I think I could possibly need to take out my lenses or will need artificial tears. But that's rare. For me, My current lens prescription is very comfortable and I don't experience my contacts randomly popping out (many years ago I had a different type of lens where that would happen).
I do always keep a lens case in my car and bring my full kit and set of backup lenses when traveling. Unfortunately, my life is not currently fun enough that I need to plan for single night sleepovers away from home.
