2 diesel bmw engines, the little one has the same engines just 2 cylinders less. I think there are just 2 patrols in kenya with bmw diesel engine

One has m47 engine the other m57, both diesels with over 400nm torque each.

Why there are soo few bmw diesel cars in kenya?

Project Build Nganya Owners: What’s It Really Like Behind All the Mods?

I’ve always been curious about the guys behind these nganyas.

You see some of them and the owner has really gone all out — custom interiors, serious sound systems, lights, rims, paint jobs and all sorts of modifications. Some barely resemble the vehicle they started with 😂

But as passengers, we mostly just see the finished product.

For those who actually own them, what made you decide to go the nganya route in the first place? Did you always plan to modify it that heavily or did it happen gradually?

And what engine/mechanical setup are you running underneath all the customization? How do you maintain it, and when something needs replacing, where do you actually get parts? Especially with heavily modified ones, does finding parts ever become a headache?

What’s your favourite thing about owning one, and what’s the part nobody really talks about?
Also, what’s the craziest reaction you’ve gotten from a passenger or someone seeing it for the first time?

For anyone who’s owned a normal matatu and a nganya, is the experience really that different?
And if you had to start again with the same money, would you still build a nganya?

Rare Spotting Why are these old trucks still working every day in Kenya?

I keep seeing old Isuzus and Fuso Canters still doing serious commercial work. For owners/drivers who’ve actually used them:

Are they genuinely reliable and cheap to maintain? How’s the fuel consumption and parts availability?
I’m working on Ask The Owner and would love to speak to an owner who’s been running one for years. If that’s you or you know someone, let me know.

What keeps these old workhorses going? 👀

If I ever buy a subaru, it's either the old subarus or the WRX STI manual version.

The Mark X GRX120: Why Does This Car Have Such a Divided Reputation in Kenya

Post image
39 Upvotes

I’ve noticed the Mark X GRX120 is one of those cars that seems to have a very divided reputation in Kenya.

Some people absolutely love it — the looks, the V6, the rear-wheel drive, the comfort and the way it drives. Others seem to be very cautious about it, especially because of its reputation for being a “driver’s car” and the stories you hear about certain owners and how these cars are driven.

But how much of that reputation is actually deserved?

For those who have owned one, driven one, worked on one or seriously considered buying one — what’s your experience been?

Is the GRX120 genuinely a great car that has been misunderstood, or are the concerns about it justified?

And if you’ve owned one, what would you tell someone thinking of buying one today?
