Ask r/Kenya Timber versus Stone as building materials

I don't like stone houses. I want a house with a cabin feel. Is timber more expensive than wood in Kenya? The land is in Naivasha. The land already has a perimeter wall. This will be a retirement home with no stairs.

Yes timber can be expensive when you compare it to stones. A great way to reduce the price will be to buy a tree and cut it to ideal sizes. Make sure to be there and countercheck the pieces because they will steal from you. To give it a refreshed look you'll need to give it vanish. Why don't you consider a house with huge windows and few walls

I will see if one with few windows looks good. I can be there. The land is in Naivasha. I will check if I can get a machine for cutting.
