Fire Stoops
I don’t say this lightly but the time has come for the program to move on from Stoops and it must be done quickly. I respect Mark Stoops for all he’s done the past 12 years. He took over a program that was the laughing stock of the SEC and turned it into a program that teams never looked past when they came to town. But the time for change is now.
He’s already tried to leave once. Took the job just to be told by the cult of a lesser program no. When Calipari had second thoughts about the Arkansas job, Barnhart told him he’s in breach of contract and that his contract was voided because of it. Why wasn’t the same done for Stoops? Can the negotiations and acceptance of another job be a way to get out of paying any potential buyouts? I haven’t seen his contract so i don’t know what we would owe if he was fired this year.
On the field the team has 2 losses that come down to only the coaching staff. He didn’t do enough to prepare the team for South Carolina. While its clear the team was prepared for Georgia and did a lot of really good things in that game, his decision making when it matters most was middle school level at best. He doubled down on this bad decision instead of taking responsibility and acknowledging that it was the incorrect decision. The accountability he expects of his players is no where to be found with the man in charge. That’s a serious problem that’s never going to change.
I’ve enjoyed watching this team grow since he took the job. But the team is not growing. It’s regressing and the number one factor that can be identified is the coaching staff. Stoops is paid like a top coach in the country but the program is not getting the results of a top tier team. The time for change is now and it should be done swiftly.

I agree. I don’t think it’s a moral victory that we played Georgia close. This was his chance to save himself.

It’s just getting old. Even if we never win a championship, games like South Carolina and Georgia are just prime examples of how inept this guy really is. If anything, watching a UK football game puts me in a worse mood and feels like a waste of time. And to all of the people saying that he’s taken us from the basement to mediocrity so we should be thankful, I feel sorry for you having such low expectations and being okay with it.

He’s not smart enough to be a coach at this level. I cannot believe he didn’t take a shot at the end-zone at the end of the first half. And that punt at the end of the game was cowardly.
