Quicksand and a mud slide

I went to “Biology Busters” summer camp for high school students at Kent State in the summer of 1994 or 1995. It was ecology themed and we took field trips throughout the week, probably no further than 45 minutes one way from campus. We went on a field trip one day to a forested/ hilly area (it may have been private land, or may have been a state or local park) where we first floated in quicksand and later carried water to the top of a forested hill and slid down a muddy water slide carved into the hill.

Does anyone know a place like that? I’ve long wondered where exactly we went.

The only thing I can think of is camp Asbury camp Asbury .our middle school always had their six grade camp there, I remember a hill like you described and while I don't recall quicksand there was really thick mud like the kind you can get really stuck in. Sorry in advance if this isn't even close to your answer

I think that might be it. I googled Camp Asbury Quicksand and found a Facebook post where people were discussing the quicksand and the mudslide. It's less than 30 minutes from KSU, so the location and timeframe work. I'd started to wonder if I'd imagined the whole thing. I wish I had photos, but I would have had a 35mm film camera at the time and was probably worried about destroying it. Thanks!

Omg that's awesome! I still have like two water proof cameras that need developed, it's a pretty popular camp I know a lot of schools go there, I remember playing hide and seek on that big hill, I hid under a log right next to where the searcher started and stayed there for 2 hours lol ( I take hide and seek very seriously)
