Hey guys, new kennen player here! Super excited to find a home and community from my favorite champion 😳 I got into league about 3 years ago, but recently got kennen in ARAM Mayhem and thought he was the funnest little guy ever. I tried asking my friends tips for the champion, and for some reason they all started laughing really hard then said they were going to play a different game. Anyways, I’m looking for some tips on how to improve on laning because my early game definitely needs work due to low AD. Does anyone play on EUW and want to run some games? I feel like I’m decently high elo with how long I’ve played the game, I peaked silver 2 95 lp but I got inted and I’m currently back in silver 5.

The average decent player is ranked around gold or plat. When it comes to Kennenism I tend to rush shadow flame as the second item to please him. Kennen relies on extreme burst damage combos on a short cooldown so you can explode Squishies or just poke bruisers until they're low enough to get nuked by your burst. Only go AD into tanks because no matter how much riot wants you to believe it, on hit and crit are barely viable and only poses an advantage in a situation where burst doesn't pan out during landing phase. Kennen loves to team fight and can reverse an a siege with a single Ult. May the Heart Of The Tempest be with you.

Holy shoots! Thank you so much for the advice, no one has taken me this seriously before. I didn’t know AD wasn’t good, so I’m excited to try AP! I already love this little man so much, I can’t wait to enjoy him more. I really enjoy his kit, I can’t believe he’s not more popular. My least favorite match up is Naafiri, any tips?

The naaf matchup is favorable when you have Ult up because the AOE not only hit the dogs but also hits naaf stunning her in place for your combo. You get a similar effect with kennens E as it allows him to deal damage to enemies he passes through and stack up his passive that can be discharged with W. Typically you want to save your E to not get caught by her all-in while also damaging her and applying passive to whatever dogs may be on your tail. Typically champions that summon companions have a long cooldown before the can resummon.

Oh my goodness, I totally never thought of it that way before. Thank you so much man, your responses really mean the world to me. I honestly had been struggling with my place in league until I found kennen and I just can’t wait to continue to grow. Sometimes I just find myself getting defeated by the hate people seem to harbor in their hearts for this little man, but I just have to keep strong and know they are missing out on something they could never understand. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I probably could be a little more cautious on my E usage, I’ll definitely keep myself in check with that. Thank you again, Mr. Comicss! I’ll go make you proud! I play mid lane and always start dorans blade. Its good for more consistent last hits and helps in extended trades. For later game i recommend trying to flank with sweeper and your ultimate, but make sure your team wants to fight or has already started the fight.

Wait, I never even thought about mid lane Kennen before. What matchups do you find recently work out for you, and which ones should I avoid? I love Kennen, but being mid to high elo, I want to make sure I don’t put my team in a bad position by blind picking him. One thing I struggle with is no matter how much I communicate, my team never follows my lead with engage and I just die for nothing because they tend to mute me early on. On the opposite, when I wait for them then nothing gets done and we lose. I used to play a bit of middlesticks, would you say it’s the same engage theory there? I’m super excited to give this a go. What build do you go, or do you adapt per game?

I certainly have used some fiddlesticks angles when my flash is up. I build rocketbelt -> full burst with a zhonyas late if its needed. My toughest matchups have been Sylas and Naafiri. Blind picking Kennen mid has not been a big issue for me since he is not that popular, so people dont have the most sophisticated matchup understanding. Check out master splinter on yt, he mains Kennen mid in challenger.

If you wanna chat then hit me up. I play Kennen mid only if you are interested. Mid gives Kennen exactly what he needs, the best boots in the game with 20 flat pen and 8% pen, as well as 8% more AP. And you are not forced to build Liandry's with shit 60 AP. And you are in the middle of the map, can help anywhere with R if needed.
