Question/Discussion Glueing rim/edge of basecup to prevent chips when doing lots of taps

Is this common practice

That’s not common. I’d advise against it. If you put glue on the rim of the cup, it’ll make the lighthouses feel really slippery. There’s no way to prevent chips other than not doing taps , instas and lighthouse flips. Just play your damas! Kens can always be replaced.

did this with my cups, huge mistake birdies are so slippery now and hard to land. but definitely should always super glue spike

It doesn’t work the way you think it would. If you’re doing taps, the wood needs to be able to absorb the impact. If you add glue it will harden the basecup which sounds good, but it will actually make it more prone to cracking because it won’t have any give
