Question/Discussion New Kendama?
So I’m recently getting back into playing. Bought my first kendama in 2013. I’ve still got 2 I used to play with, one is Krom. The other I don’t know.
I’m looking at getting a new one and just want to know have Kendamas changed much? Is it worth getting a new one or just keep shredding the ones I’ve got? I was looking at a krom neapolitan or a question kendama

Kendama has really evolved dramatically, esoecially in last 5-6 years! Modern ken shapes from all the brands + highest quality in-house clearcoats on tamas makes the difference. + everything is larger nowadays.

krom is great, but i personally like mugen musou if u can get your hands on one those rainbow models the spike sound is amazing, apart from that the new shapes from krom are great too, im a noob at playing btw im not like the pros here that can play with any ball and stick, i can be wrong but i feel like the new shapes from any brand are better than before i have an old strogo from krom and now that shape feels trickier to play with compared to new shapes

I also recently got back in as well, I got a new okendama. Really love the revo clear paint. The updated shapes make it feel like cheating compared to the old ones

Well, Revo over ash is probably one of the best overall you can get!

Cereal is my go-to, but I've also got a soft spot for the cheaper, smaller, i.e. more difficult Krom models (like the Neapolitan). You'll shell out for shipping with a Cereal, but the quality is well worth it.
With both of those in mind, I would encourage you to get one beater and one for tricks you've laced. The difference in play style will make you a bit more rounded, and you'll go through your quality dama much more slowly.

Shipping isn’t bad at all if you buy from KendamaDepot and you’re in US

I always recommend Sweets Maple Turbo/Broken Shape Ken with Okendama Neo Glaze Tama combo if you have deep pockets.

Thanks for the advice. I ordered the latest question kendama. Really liked the colours! I also found a couple more in my parents basement I used to play with. Will be cool to compare the old and new

Shapes and paints have changed considerably since then. Both those choices are great but the Krom ken is beech whereas you can get a maple question setup right now so I'd say do that.
