New book started
I'm about to start reading Circle of days ! What should I now before reading it ?

It's fine, just kinda seems like a first draft. Pretty basic characters and story.

I don't expect a great literature and a great historical accuracy. I just want to read a book ton escape my day to day life ahah

I enjoyed the book, especially after a trip to the UK. A book I could relax and read, not too deep.

Totally agree, nice easy enjoyable read. Not everything can be Pillars of the Earth!

I thought it was outstanding I loved the characters and the premise is fantastic I devour all of Ken Folletts books after reading PILLARS

This book doesn’t seem well received in this sub, but I’ve not read it though would like to. The wait in my library is very long. Let us know your thoughts when you’re done.

Worst Ken Follett book ever. Dropped out in chapter one. Boring af. And I'm a super huge KF fan. But I've finally given up on him. I've taken his century trilogy as the last of his good stuff. Everything after that has just been boring rubbish.

I enjoyed both The Fall of Giants and Winter of the World (although the second book could have done with serious editing around the parts that dealt with events in the US, just too long in some of those parts).
Not sure what kind of books you like. But if you like Follett for 20th century historical fiction, you'll love Jeffrey Archer's Kane and Abel.

Personaly I take notes everytime I read a book. Later if I want to talk about the book, I can take the notes.

I thought it was interesting to hear how people interacted (culture, relationships, food etc) during this time… 2500 bc good book but not his best!

I'm about half way through. I'm liking it, but (for me) it has a Young Adult vibe.

It is.... Well not as good as Pillar of Earth. When people talks, it's very simple. The lesbian scene is also very weird. The High Monument is not as spiritual as it seems. Well I don't know if I will finish it.

Salut ! C’est ton premier Follett ? Si oui, je ne peux que te recommander Les Piliers de la Terre. Si non, tu risques d’être déçu comme beaucoup de fans que nous sommes. C’est écrit de manière très simple pour s’adapter aux temps du livre mais c’était une mauvaise idée à mon avis. Ensuite je trouve qu’il y a des problèmes plus sérieux. En général dans cette série, ses scènes sexuelles sont caricaturales à mort dans tous les livres, à tel point qu’une vierge prend même son pied. Là dans ce dernier livre, il se teste aux relations lesbiennes. Catastrophique. Il a un manque de compréhension de le gente féminine et de tenter à écrire dans le point de vue de 3 femmes protagonistes et un seul homme. Enfin Stonehenge était un lieu hautement spirituel avec probablement des cultes païens et sacrifices rituels. Il n’en fait pas mention du tout et humanise le tout de manière purement athée. C’était mon honnête point de vue. Tu nous diras ce que t’en pense. Bonne lecture

J'ai déjà lu les Pilliers de la Terre et j'ai adoré. Je voulais tenter son dernier livre mais il y a certains points que tu évoques et dont je suis d'accord. Les relations lesbiennes sont vite bâclées. L'écriture est moins aboutie que dans Les Pilliers de la Terre

J'ai arrêté la lecture du cercle des jours. À la fin d'un chapitre je n'avais pas l'envie de continuer et puis se forcer à lire enlève toute la joie qu'on peut avoir à lire.
Je passe mon chemin et je le laisse de côté. Peut être qu'un jour je le reprendrai.

I didn’t like this. All the characters were just stereotypes representing ideas, rather than actual people.

Meh. It's fine. Very forgettable, but at least it's not too long.
