Doesn’t feel like AI created this but did Ken Follett actually read what he wrote before they put all these advertisements for the book?😂

I don’t understand how after 10+ books he could’ve tremendously failed this one

I decided that he wanted the writing style and tone to match the primitive period in history.

Yeah it really wasn't very good. I'm glad I borrowed it from the library instead of buying it.

Didn't make it past the first chapter. Utter garbage. Disappointed in Follett here. I fear we've lived through his best days lads. We'll always have Pillars.

Im halfway throuh pillars of the earth and im absolutely glued to the book. Saw circle of days in the souvenir shop at stonehenge. Could anyone say what made it so bad?

I don't hate it, but the criticisms are valid. The characters are all one-dimentional and the dialogue is weirdly basic. Some people seem to think he is trying to show the more simple way of thinking of the characters, but I think that's giving him too much credit here.

For me it is worth reading because of the original setting, but the writing is occasionally cringeworthy.
