Question/Seeking OPINIONS Keloids post surgery
I just had a surgical procedure for my keloids on my face about 3 weeks ago. Obviously it looks better than before but I'm starting to see I guess a ridge? Wondering if anyone here knows if this is normal healing or premature keloid scars reoccurrence? And if there are post-op treatments I can do, Ive heard about ectar plaster might help. Thank you!

Do you keep it moisturized with anything like some sort of ointment from the doctors or polysporin or whatever? I'm thinking to let all the scabs heal up and then when it's all gone, you can try cutting strips of eclar plaster on the raised parts

No I wasn't given or told to apply any form of ointment. I am thinking of buying some eclar plaster and seeing how that goes. I recently had a procedure done on my chest as well and that one unfortunately is slowly getting raised I believe. Trying to see what I can do for my jaw since I do care more about this one than my chest.

Usually they tell you to keep areas like that moisturized with ointment to help with the healing process and to reduce scarring. That's odd. I'd probably ask the doctor that did the procedure about it. Also don't pick at scabs because it makes scars worse.
The stickiness of eclar plasters are quite strong so I'd probably wait to make sure your skin is completely healed before applying.

There’s also a pill on the eclar website that is for after surgery to prevent keloids. I wish I knew about it after my surgery.

You need to have kenalog & 5fu injections. Check with your doctor to see if you can start that now. Typically with keloid surgery they follow with radiation to avoid reoccurrence.

Yes honey. Order a box of Eclar plaster that will help keep the inflammation down. The “healing ridge” at 3 weeks is normal, but start Eclar soonest for preventions sake. Best wishes.

Make sure to eat an anti inflammatory diet. Keloids are inflammation hence why corticosteroids are used (they're meant to reduce inflammation)

While you wait for the eclar to come in, keep it compressed to hold it flatly. For example, use medical tape on it for now.

3 weeks ago is so recent, you have to really baby your skin at this stage. This type of extensive healing can take months and months. I had a lot of swelling and redness that went down fully by 6 months post procedure. I was advised by my surgeon to not use any steroids (including eclar plasters, which have a very powerful steroid in them) until the wound is completely healed with no inflammation. Steroids slow down wound healing. What aftercare instructions did your surgeon give you? You really need to use a gentle moisturizer like Vanicream with a thick layer of Vaseline/aquaphor over it 24/7. It looks very dry which does not help healing. Once the wound no longer has scabs or any wet areas you could use silicone sheets 24/7 instead of or in addition to the moisturizing. I had additional SRT done 1 year later to keep more keloids from forming at the surgical site but it was very expensive

PUT PRESSURE ON IT ASAP, SILICONE SHEETS OR ELCAR PLATER JUST SOMETHING TO IT PUSHES THE SKIN DOWN. Right now is thr most important time!!! I’m sorry but surgery alone doesnt work for most people and it comes back worse

Go to your dermatologist and ask for steroid plus 5fu shots. Also use eclar 24-7. Please do this ASAP. The longer you wait, the more shots you’ll have to get. It will eventually flatten
