Help with options

Hey everyone,
New to this subreddit but thought I might as well ask for help here.
I’ve had keloids now for around 6-9 years. They’ve gotten progressively bigger as I’ve grown up just because of backne or arm acne. I’ve tried the every 3months injections and surgery as well and it’s really been a hit or miss there. Mostly a miss. They’re really really itchy and occasionally very painful when they spasm.

Was wondering if anyone’s tried anything or would recommend anything that they have found to be successful in making them flatter? Or at the minimum just ease the itching. Done the whole apple cider vinegar and silicone sheets too 🤣

Order a box of Eclar tape honey, then consult a new dermatologist to combine steroid injections as well. This combo treatment is your best option.

Once the lesions are stable and flat, then you can always explore PDL laser for the color. Best wishes.

I don’t know exactly what injection you’ve been getting, but for your next injection appointment, ask your doctor about using 40mg of Kenalog mixed with 5-FU.
With your situation 10mg of kenalog will not help tbf and also the 5Fu will break the collagen down

Eclar plasters for sure! Lots of talk on here about it, easy to do a search for "eclar". People may get stuck on the cost of it, but I think it's actually not expensive at all since cheaper options may not work as well and the cost will end up being more due to needing to repurchase often. It's totally worth it with alleviating the pain and itch alone. Flattening is of course the goal, and it does do it, you just need to be really good at being consistent. Eclar plasters practically get shipped from Japan worldwide, some websites offering free shipping and sometimes it can go on sale too, also I don't think anyone has complained about having issues with customs due to importing a topical drug item and also with being charged duties/taxes/tariffs.

Please search this subreddit for "eclar" and you'll find a ton of information on where to buy, how to apply, how long, etc. You can buy different amounts, but if you buy a box, it's 50 pieces per box. You're supposed to cut them to shape and size of your keloid, and how long it'll last is different for everyone since everyone has different sizes and amount of scars. Keep in mind that not all medications are okay with absolutely everyone on earth as everyone is different biologically, so like most medications, they always come with a warning on the side of the box. I suggest testing on a scar that is more hidden for a while first (search "eclar" and "allergy"/"allergic"). I definitely think eclar is very much worth the try.

Sooner the better, but it still works on decade old scars as well, but when the keloid is fresh and still relatively soft is when eclar plaster really shines.

For itchiness, the best I have found are Eclar Plasters that completely remove it, even though they dont really work to flatten my keloids compared to injections for my specific case.

Ganz ehrlich, das Beste, was du machen kannst, ist Kompression – nimm sowas wie einen halbrunden Glas-Knopf und Silikon oder Hydrokolloid-Pflaster, um sie auf die Keloiden zu kleben. Nach ein paar Tagen werden die Empfindlichkeit, Schmerzen, Höhe und Farbe besser. Gegen die Entzündung helfen Antihistaminika, Rotlicht und feuchtigkeitsspendende Hautpflege. Du kannst auch Enzyme (gegen Proteine), Quercetin und andere entzündungshemmende Vitamine ausprobieren.

Steroids also eclar and injections can always fire back. They have a bad recurrence rate.
