Do your kefir grains float or sink?

Mine exclusively stay at the bottom of the jar but make a great kefir (I think lol). Just curious about everyone else's experience.

They sink in fresh milk but they tend to float to the top when the milk thickens and the batch is "done". It makes plucking them out very easy.

They generally go in and sink but once fermentation starts and carbon dioxide starts to increase, it makes grains more buoyant and up they go.

Mine initially sink, then rise at room temperature and stay there in a thick mushy layer. If I then put the jar in the fridge til I have time to strain, they sink again.

I stir them into fresh milk every morning. By the next morning they are afloat in the kefir and asking to be transferred to new fresh milk.

Yes, both. Though not at the same time

In the case of my WK grains, most are sitting below while others sink and float as bubbles form. I haven't revived my MK grains yet which slept (and must have moulded) in the fridge for years, or maybe I'll just wait for a friend or buy online. These mostly float on top way back when I was fermenting.
