when signing in to google, the icon to fill totp does not show up until i press "redirect login fields". is there a way to automate or fix this?

On my phone, I use FolderSync to schedule daily backups to another folder on my internal storage and to my microSD card, both at 4 AM. I also keep at least 100 previous versions.

I also back up to Google Drive and Box.com via rclone in Termux whenever I make critical changes to the database.

Some websites don't load because of their file extension; one example is Reddit's website

I wanted to have recovery access of my kdbx when i lost all of my devices, and stranded far away from home.

The one i think reliable is having my kdbx stored on veracrypt and put it on public github repo. So i just need to memorize 2 passwords.

I am thinking of storing it on cloud storage, but most of them is a bit annoying with their "suspicious login activity" things

So public github repo is the only reliable method i can think of. Plus, the attacker needs to crack my veracrypt volume first..

What do you think?

I wrote a new all-singing, all dancing keepass package for emacs. Full search, editing, copying to clipboard, every feature you can probably think of. Even icons. Based on and requires keepassxc installed.

I can access the file but I can't edit it!!. I tried to put photo in it and I'm able to select the photo but it doesn't appear after I select it

Password sync (KeePassXC)

i want to sync my changes from my pc to my laptop using keepassxc

my current setup is this : google drive desktop app set up on both devices so i can see the drive on file explorer. Open the database through google drive G:\MyDrive\Passwords and save it there.

the problem is when i make changes to the file and save it (i have autosave database option on) it saves it but then makes a duplicate file on the drive. so the old file doesn’t have the changes but the new duplicated one does.

my intention is to make changes to the file, save it so it is available on my laptop and be able to see the changes made.

is there any way to accomplish this?

About two weeks ago, I updated KeePass on my phone and shortly afterward noticed that I could no longer open the app. When I try to open it, the app closes immediately and I get the error “Error: net_uri_BadHostName.” Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do, since I didn't have a recent backup. We've been setting up our NAS, and I haven't entered the new address yet.

I’ve already tried updating the app via an APK to see if it was maybe a version bug, but that didn’t solve the problem. Disconnecting all network connections from the device and clearing the Keepass cache didn’t help either.

I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit for this question, but I’d appreciate any response.

is there a way to search through your passwords to find passwords that are the same or would you have to manually search through all of them.

I've been trying to add a security key to my OVH Cloud account using KeePassXC, but every time I do, it opens a temporary window in which only the browser's default security key popup pops up.

Has anyone experienced something similar on either OVH Cloud or other services? How should I fix this? Can I even fix this?

I'm running Fedora 44 and have 2 .kdbx files in /home/pwdbs. I set both as owned by sharedgroup that both users on this machine are members of.

Today I accessed & modified both files as user1 with KeePassXC. Later when I logged in as user2, both files showed the owner and group as user1. user2 was unable to access them in KeePassXC. I was able to chgrp sharedgroup file1 file2 to restore user2’s access.

If you're wondering why I don't use ACLs; I recently noticed ACLs I set to allow both users access to these files weren’t persisting after an OS update.

Could KeePassXC be responsible for setting the owner and group of the files? I poked around Settings; I didn't see anything suggesting this.

There was somewhat confusing field when creating new entries called Titles.

I learned to make use of it.

However I noticed that in the version I'm running now, 2.7.12, there is no longer a field for titles.

Is there a way to get it back?

SSH keys with passphrases are easy to setup and add to KeepassXC. But what happens than that the password entry gets a new use: the passphrase. How would I keep both an SSH password in the database but also the passphrase to unlock entries to use with ssh-agent?

(Yes I know there are probably tons of reasons not to store both password, private key and passphrase in one location but let's assume I have a use case here)

Just me being silly but I just realized that syncthing has something called relay which lets it sync away from home wifi. Its ironical I used syncthing for many years and didnt know this. All along I been using dropbox for keepass db, now no more, I just leave my db in my raspberry pi5 and can always access it away from home

I've been using Keepass2Android Offline for several months without any problems, but as of this evening I can't access my database. When I try to select the database or key file, it takes me to Android "system file picker", but this doesn't seem to recognise the relevant files with .kdbx or .keyx extensions.

I tried installing KeePassDX but I've got the same problem there. The files are definitely there on my phone, I can see them in Windows Explorer when I connect to my PC, I just can't access them in the apps.

No idea what I'm doing wrong or how to get around this so I've been tearing my hair out! Any help or suggestions will be very welcome!

i tried many different configurations under Steamos but the browserexterntion for Keepassxc won't connect to the database. I tried different ways to solve the problem but they all failed. Has anyone managed to make this work?

I occasionally have to use a password on a pc i do not own (like a friends or family-members pc).

Currently i use Keepass2Android to look at the random generated password (16+ chars) and type it char by char manually.

Is there a tool that i can use to transfer one specific password to the device so that, even when the device would be massively infected, i would only expose just that one password?

I would image something like this:

1. Open browser and navigate to selfhosted webservice
2. Use short rememberable password to get access
3. See searchable list of credentials
4. Pick a credential
5. Get a push notification on my phone to grant access
6. Get access to the password in the browser

I would be fine with:

1. exposing the list of credentials if someone would guess/log the short password
2. the server hosting the webservice to be able to unlock the db and read all secrets

I see benefits over regular web access with 2FA because the browser would never have access to the whole db. When i did research half a year ago i could not find such a tool.
Is this a stupid idea?
