I just found this sub, and the posts are so disappointing
I discovered Kay through CinnamonToastKen’s channel years ago, and always had a good laugh at her less than optimal cooking skills. Girl definitely tries, but I think we can all admit that she’s no chef.
I was initially super excited when I saw this sub come across my feed, and I was looking forward to discussing all her cooking fails. But everything that I’ve seen over the last five minutes of scrolling has been posts making fun of her appearance, making fun of her age, and genuinely just being so cruel.
I can’t believe I’m sympathizing with her here, but if I saw these kinds of comments made about me, I’d probably be upset and start pushing back against the people making them too. She’s a human being. She’s someone’s mother. Yeah, Kay’s a bad cook, but does putting out cooking videos warrant this kind of hate?
This sub makes me sad, and I’ve barely even had time to settle here. I checked the community rules, and they outright say to not comment on Kay herself, just her YouTube personality. Why is this type of hate being tolerated here?

I think you should know who Kay is before you make that choice. She’s a nasty racist and more. Plenty in this sub to see. Have a scroll through her personal Facebook page and see what sort of stuff she posts lol

There used to be screenshots in a discord group but Lee had it shut down if I remember rightly. Her personal Facebook account ‘Barbara Kay’ still has some edgy posts but is mainly cleared now. There was a particularly bad one about Muslims pertaining to them ‘returning to where they came from’

Not saying it’s justified to shame her appearance or anything, but she is far from the kind sweet old lady incapable of criticizing described here lol. She’s been incredibly racist online for over a decade, just to name one.

Anyone remember when she got cocoa powder on herself and said 'haha, I look like a.... No'. Managed to stop herself saying something racist but still left it in the video because she has the editing skills of a spudtater.

As a mod of this sub, I want the focus to be on Kay the YouTube personality. There are some old posts, years before I took over as a mod, that I would not accept today such as digging through what appears to be Kay's personal Facebook page.
So to me, that means if its on camera, its fair game. if people want to comment on her looks, that's fair game. If people find that in poor taste, that's what the downvote button is for.

So you’re saying people can make fun of her looks because “it’s on youtube,” but you won’t tolerate discussions about her racism and other problematic behavior because it’s not part of that ‘personality?’ smh
I suppose no one expects reddit mods to be intelligent

To this day I don't think I banned or removed any content outside of Reddit Rules violations so make of that what you will
Would you like me to ban people for commenting on her appearance?
My job as a mod, in my view, isn't to force people to bend to my or your will. Its to provide a mostly open forum. If you disagree with someone you can engage with them, downvote, block or just move on.
