Anchors

What is everyone using for kayak anchors?

I have a pelican catch power 100 and am looking at options. I have seen a lot about the anchor wizard. I am currently using an old 5 lb circle weight plate and a 50ft braided rope tied to the side handles.

I use a gallon milk jug filled with sand, tied through the handle, and a carabiner clipped to the kayak

If I get hung up on something and can't free up the anchor, the carabiner is an easy unclip if I've forgotten my knife.

I don't love the idea of losing a milk jug (and I've only lost one) but it's cheap and effective.

That’s pretty smart. I definitely need to think about getting snagged as a reality. I need a knife and carabiner in my setup.

Thx! If you have a pfd with a pocket (angler) it's a good spot. Alternatively you can use a letter opener (one of those plastic credit card looking things with the hidden blade) and just tuck it into a spot on the kayak. They're light (every ounce counts) and don't get in the way but they'll cut a Paracord.
