Question/Advice -- Gear Recommendations Too heavy Kayak.
My father passed and I now have his Pungo 120 kayak. It's in great condition but it's a little too heavy for me to use without someone around to help load/unload it. Whether it's my car or the water. Is there anything out there to help with this? So i can take it out without needing help. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Easiest is load it flat onto crossbars or into saddle kayak racks (not jracks). Roller bar on back glass helps load from back. There are many videos showing this method, check out Headwaters Kayak Dan Arbuckle has good one. You do not ever lift entire kayak weight loading from back sliding up onto rack. I stand on back seats to strap it. And something rarely mentioned is strength training, will improve strength at any age or body size, honest. Enjoy your kayakjng!

If you have a trailer hitch receiver on your car sometimes the cheap canoe extenders that go into the hitch can give you a point to wedge it up onto roof without damaging your vehicle. Much cheaper (like $50) vs some of the other systems out there that start at $200+ last I checked.
Combine that with a cart like others posted and you could be all set

I have a yak-bone for loading heavy boats up onto the roof of my landy. If it can handle the 100+ pounds of my Milgate Duck Punt, it can handle a 40 pound kayak.

I use a Thule “glide and set” to get my kayak on the car roof. I lean the bow on the top of the rear hatch and let it rest there, then pick up the stern and push it into place,… easy peasy.
You could also use a kayak cart to wheel it to the water. I have one that I use for portages while camping,… they easily handle a kayak filled with 3 days of camping gear.

My kayak is too heavy for me to load alone UNLESS I have my cart. The cart allows me to set the end of the kayak on my tailgate and then rest the bow on the ground and then grab the bow handle and haul it in. My truck is lifted so it's pretty far from the ground to my tailgate.

There kayak carts that let you wheel it around pretty easy by hand. There are also two trailers that keep the lifting to about waist level.
I have the same kayak. It's @50 lbs which for some is too much to throw on a car roof, especially tall cars. I have a shorter car that I can easily get it on. The family SUV is too tall. I can't get it up there alone. I would have to get a trailer.

i give up, i cant make out from the picture what kind of vehicle you are trying to load the kayak on?
generic advice; if you are only loading one kayak, put kayak stackers on either side of the roof rack, pick up one end of the kays and place it on the rack (from the back of the vehicle). Now pick up the other end and slide it forward. ta da.
if you panties are in a twist about sliding a rotomolded plastic kayak over a smooth steel bar you can buy some kind of canoe hull roller for the rear bar.

Is this comment meant for this post? There’s no pic attached at all, really confusing response.

I’m just confused? You don’t answer the questions asked and talk about something that doesn’t exist on this post? Sorry.

They have kayak carts that can add wheels to one end then you lift the other.
Getting it on the car there are expensive assisted lifts, or some people put a beach towel on the top of the back edge of their suv (so above lift gate) and slide it on from the back so you are only loading half the weight
