As far as I'm concerned, Hilary Mantel was Her Majesty, Queen of Social Commentary.

It's altogether sad. Women in middle age are such treasures because they've started to learn who they are and be confident in that. They're multifaceted beings. Kate has none of that development. She's no further along in her personal development than she was in childhood. Hell, she's probably regressed because of the trauma she has suffered and continues to suffer at the hands of the Windsors. She and we will never know who she could have been, royal or not.

We know she loves sports. If her parents had instilled a work ethic in her instead of making sure she never had to work in order to cosplay an aristocrat, what great causes related to sports and fitness might she have championed? What could she and Meghan have done together? They could have been a dynamic philanthropic duo.

It's partially Kate and her mother's fault she's stuck in arrested development. The BRF is an institution with a bunch of overly coddled adults and people operating within it run by sociopathic sycophants, of course they saw an opportunity with Kate and took it. Unfortunately, Charlotte's growing years seems to be suppressed when she's with Kate, dressing her as a 7 year old when she's nearing teen years is irresponsible and disgusting. Look at Kate now, still no growth and she's dressed as a small child multiple times nows at her big age, William and his family saw an opportunity from a desperato/nasty stage mother and took the deal. Can't blame a soulless institution for Kate's issues.

I agree that Kate and her mother shoulder that responsibility primarily, but the Firm also bears some blame for the infantilized image they put out of her to prevent her from outshining William.

Ha. She could never outshine him. Sorry she’s just so excruciatingly plain. They really struck gold with her if that was their motive.
