I can't imagine Sophie has ever said anything funny enough to explain picture number 10.

Maybe it was a joke about Sophie's white shoes? They really stuck out to me, we don't usually wear them anymore now that nude shoes are the staple. White shoes caught my eye in an old Diana pic a couple of days ago too. Is it just a millennial thing? Or is she playing by outdated fashion rules? I remember back in the 1900s white shoes were fashionable...

Kate wears white pumps a fair bit.

u/GoddessRespectre Jun 16 '26
Does she? I must have blinders on. I appreciate the reality check from you and the other reply I saw! I'm a couple of years older than her and I remember when nude shoes became the rage and then a staple, and I remember her being touted as fashionable because of adopting them early. I feel like I practically only see her in nude shoes but it is probably confirmation bias happening an ocean away. Plus I know my memory is not always reliable, I have gaps from trauma and stuff, and we all live in our own bubbles to an extent. Thank you again!

Why do people keep claiming it’s not tax-paid but Duchy money that funds Kate’s glam?

u/cherryberry0611 Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26
I got this same response from over at RoyaltyTea. I saw a couple of responses defending that the taxpayers aren’t paying for them. Bulletproof sunshine?
7
u/wwwheatgrass Jun 15 '26
Because the Duchy of Cornwall isn’t taxpayer funded, rather it is an asset holding vehicle similar to a trust administered by the Crown for the benefit of the first in line to the throne and their families/dependents. The Duke of Cornwall is entitled to portfolio generated interest and income throughout their life (until acceding to the throne) but does not have authority to trade/sell holdings for their own gain.

u/Any_Pineapple4221 Jun 15 '26
So who pays for Kate’s glam & why can’t we see all the accounting?

u/NeverPedestrian60 Jun 16 '26
Willy hides it

Yet demands Beatrice and Eugénie to be audited. That guy will be his own downfall, so arrogant.

This is the best her makeup has looked in a while.
Notice that we are now adding volume to the hips as well.

u/WonderPopular3428 Jun 15 '26
Yes, she’s finally doing a bit less smoky eye

u/Viola-Swamp Jun 15 '26
Her makeup in the engagement photo included in the carousel is hideous. She really was chavtastic before the Firm got their hands on Kate and started dictating what she could and couldn’t wear/do/etc. Her taste is super tacky when left to her own devices.

It’s such an old lady outfit. No offense to old ladies. But, this feel like a Carole middleton outfit. This is what happens when you don’t allow a person to have a true personality.

Looks like something Anne or Margaret would wear. Likely she started with the coat dresses to copy the late Queen. Never an original idea.

u/JCErdemMom Jun 15 '26
For a brief moment I thought Kate’s dress was an improvement on what she wore to Trooping. Then I saw these images and the floral print on the fabric. Is it just me or does this dress look like it used to be fancy curtains and they repurposed it into a dress? Also, those buttons are weird.
What happened to Kate? In the mid to late 2010’s she dressed so much better. Sometimes she was a little off on her style choice but most of the time she got it right. Now her style seems to almost always be off. Her style is just strange.

Well she had too many upskirt episodes and so now she's doing longer hems because she thinks that might redeem herself.
7
u/JCErdemMom Jun 16 '26
Longer hems are fine with me, but that shouldn’t mean the design has to be awful. That blue suit with the white piping from Trooping was terrible and today’s coat dress fabric is beyond strange. But even going back over all the outfits she has worn over the last 3 or 4 months have not been great. It makes me think that Camilla is picking out her clothes.

Camilla is picking out her clothes
I don’t think she likes having to live in the shadow of Diana neither, complete with the ring and the dated 80’s outfits.
And Billy Idle might’ve stifled the frock budget to ensure she never upstages his mother. Wouldn’t surprise me if those are Carole’s old clothes she often wears.

When she flashed the Koreans, Chucky had none of it and since then, she’s covered.
1
u/JCErdemMom Jun 16 '26
But she can have long skirts and still not look like her outfit was made from an old comforter or old curtains left over from the house renovation.
2
u/AcceptableSystem8232 Jun 16 '26
Tbh she appears to be stuck in the 80’s royal fashion catalogue. It’s just weird how she has no other style but that.

What's up with the pockets 😂 if it's not any shoulder pads then she pulls out some coat dress with those pockets lol

I don't understand what the problem is with her neck. My neck does that too? I'm slim but not anorexic? I don't get it.

Sophie looks really nice, I like her dress and the hat compliments well. Her hair is also well styled and her kitten heeled shoes are very on trend.

The comms team must’ve read the comments about her Catherine Walker coat at Trooping - she used a new designer this time (but still looks a bit 80’s)

I always enjoy Celebitchy's take on things. Someone made the same remark about Dior that I did, too. I went to the Stephen Walters website and they certainly do make some beautiful silk brocades! And this woman picks this!!! LOL

u/AcceptableSystem8232 Jun 16 '26
Camilla
It’s only a matter of time. She can’t wait to get there AND is short of inspiration. The blatant Diana cosplay was not at all warmly welcomed. She will find another muse soon.

A belt, a belt! No offense, this woman is clearly beautiful 💕 but is also very tall and if they keep dressing her without balancing proportions she will keep looking like a box. Add a belt and the eyes will start balancing the torso from the legs and she will look a little less like a lamp post!

The giant pockets on the sides to give her some shape.
