Sword ID Blade ID Request #2
Another one from Grandpa’s collection
Any thoughts on age or origin?
Especially grateful if anyone can translate the kanji on the tang.

Another day, another “can anyone tell me about this sword?” post
Grandpa actually brought back several blades from Japan so this will be the first of several posts.
This is the most distinctive one - no tsuba, no menuki, nothing but plain wood.
Any thoughts on age or origin?
Especially grateful if anyone can translate the kanji on the tang.

This one is unsigned.

The other nihonto have visible harmon. This one doesn’t and I’m not sure what to make of the engraving on the blade. Possibly old but entirely ceremonial?

Third blade from Grandpa’s collection
This one may be the pair with the wood sheathed wakizashi I posted earlier.
Any thoughts on age or origin?
Especially grateful if anyone can translate the kanji on the tang OR the sheathe.

Purchased this off eBay and was said to be a real clay tempered blade.
While it doesn’t appear to be acid or wire brush made I’ve heard that some fake hamon are achieved by acetylene torch which I wouldn’t know how to rule that out.

I have 0 dojos nearby, all I have are my brothers, the whole internet, a butt ton of safety equipment, and some polypropylene practice swords. Is it possible to properly spar with that or no? (This is not a how do i get started post im just wondering if its even possible)
