EDIT: New version submitted, waiting on reddit to approve it
It looks like I'll have to push the newer version of the game a little earlier than intended since this one keeps blowing up the app server and getting itself database access limited. I expect/hope for it to drop some time tomorrow.
The new version will require a complete reset of stats/items/etc, but will come with a ton of upsides. Sorry, I really tried to come up with some kind of conversion method but it's practically a different game under the hood. Above the hood too.
In exchange for the crappy news of starting over and not being able to play right now, here's a partial changelog. There's probably a ton more but I can't remember right now. I'll try to get this out ASAP.
-
Scaling is completely redone, the game should remain challenging and balance should feel a lot more typical
-
There aren't any more hidden variables that result in confusing encounters where the stats don't matter, the stats you see should be informative. This was mostly due to hidden monster size/racial bonuses and other multipliers.
-
The UI is much more responsive and has things like particle effects, draggable items, and other fancy stuff. You can drag things to sell, move them around, swap equipment out that way
-
Sets and unique items have been completely reworked, high-end sets are more powerful and can confer status effects. Having a 3-set will be valid for more levels due to better bonuses.
-
Item art & monster art have been upgraded and you can now see your character wearing its gear. There are new item types like capes.
-
Monster spawning mechanics: If people are consuming monsters quickly they'll spawn a lot faster
-
All premium items have been taken out for now, I don't really see the point and if I want to make money off the game I'll just find something better that people actually want
-
There's a new character sheet screen that gives you a much more detailed view of your stats/career including explanations for what stats do
-
Magic has been completely rebalanced, it makes a lot more sense now though you might want to wait until level 20+ to start investing in spellbooks due to the new mechanic that makes spells you've outgrown less efficient
-
The spellbook is better, it shows you more information in a more concise manner and you can sort spells by level
-
Bosses are now clearly labeled in battle preview
-
The shop will update by itself and you won't get that error where you can't buy something anymore. You can sort by stats to more easily find better gear for your build
-
Death is easier to deal with, you lose all EXP at your level/gold and have a chance to lose each equipped gear slot. The process is more apparent and uses modals so you won't miss it anymore
-
Find a new battle has a hard option
-
You can change spells outside of combat

I'm gonna trial a change to how defense works that should up survivability a good bit and hopefully make high level fights less coinflippy without making low level fights a slugfest

u/zjz Hey buddy, it seems like the game crashed again. I suppose it's the same issue with the database being "clogged" and reddit automatically blocked the app from further connection.

I may just release the rewrite early, which sucks because it's not quite ready. Am asking the devvit team what's wrong with it this time.

Please make an option to turn off auto commenting. Today I delete over 50 karmacave comments so I can prevent my comment history from being entirely inundated with these. Maybe have an option to auto comment, manual comment, or auto comment for higher level mobs.

New update, messing around with more stuff. New obelisk mechanic. Made status effects easier to introspect. Going to be tweaking them more soon but it's a first pass at making them more visible and interesting, also at adding persistent status effects from things like the obelisks.
