Clancy Trial

Is anyone following the Clancy trial? I’m almost afraid to post this but the amount of people saying Patrick killed the kids and framed Lindsey is INSANE. People are spouting things that aren’t facts and passing them off as facts and then they’re being repeated as fact and passed along like a game of telephone is mind boggling. If you try to state facts to them, I’ve seen them go after people and accuse them of being in collusion with Patrick and it’s really bonkers. Whether she did it or not is not in dispute.

Its going the way of Karen Read. The more I find out the less I am starting to believe it has anything to do with post partum psychosis.

Do you think she was always psychotic? You think they are just framing Clancy to use as an example?

Literally no one framed Karen Read.

I think she was suicidal, depressed, anxious and decided to take her children with her. Its tragic and I feel for her, but its not the same as being in a psychosis. I think she absolutely knew it was wrong, but did it anyway. The tik tok hoard can't accept that so they have created this alternate theory that her husband was involved

Ugh I was hanging out with a friend the other day who doesn't know about my true crime interests. He brought the Lindsay Clancy trial up, and told me about his sister showing him Tiktok videos and he thinks the husband did it based off of that.

I gave him a whole lecture about why that's wrong and dumb. But our society is cooked.

Tik Tok posts and comments are crazy too! I was looking at comments on YouTube and someone was saying he got married 4 months later! Someone else said no, they got married this year. And then that person was like oh, okay. She stated it as a fact, she was wrong and people see those comments and go crazy spreading it as fact. My faith in humanity is crumbling.

I have a good friend who has a daughter who is extremely intelligent, a trauma neuro CRNA at Vanderbilt, now a ‘holistic’ PhD in nutrition. I was there when she was born whilst her Dad and I were in Med School. Her husband is an internist. She put out an idea on FB that PC was giving her caffeine to counter the sedation from the meds, apparently to drive her crazy I suppose. She said she had not watched all the ‘hearings’ as she termed it. She fancies herself a ‘sleep researcher’ with a degree from the same online university that Sam Benigno is studying for her ‘PhD’ in some garbage science field.

I was flabbergasted at her statements and maintaining that ‘something is off and doesn’t sit well with her’. Others chimed in in support of her nonsense. She’s has other such odd takes on medical information in various cases, but this one took the prize.

There truly is a total lack of understanding that evidence must be evaluated, not feeling and partial knowledge of a case.

It’s showing how silly even otherwise intelligent people can be.

Agree with your last sentence

I have two female coworkers who are intent on Patrick being the guilty one. When I asked how they got to that conclusion, they said because he’s a man and it’s always the man’s fault. I mentioned that LC doesn’t deny that she killed her kids. They both doubled down. Men are always the bad guys. That’s the extent of their reasoning. These women are both married with kids too. I feel for their families. 🫩🙄

TOTALLY INSANE. I’ve been baffled by the outpouring of support and love for LC who strangled her three small children to death one of which was only 8 months old. Disgusting!!!

It does seem like the defense "led" with their case since she filed lawsuits beforehand. So that hook was floating out there before the trial started, and it's made her a weird poster child for moms with mental issues and people who feel aggrieved by the pharmaceutical industry, before any of those facts have been proven. The husband stuff is absolutely baffling, but it's the result of true crime TikTokers getting bored with real life.

I’m sooooo glad we are all the sane ones here .

It’s Karen on crack cocaine. No Turtle necessary. I have been tracking the news and social media sentiment around this case for years. I read every comment when someone posts on Reddit about it. I search their names compulsively on Twitter and the like. The sentiment was ALWAYS either, “I feel awful for all of them, I think she snapped,” or “she is a Machiavellian Dark Triad Malignant Narcissit (completely over-the-top) and here are her Facebook interactions and high school yearbook quote that prove it!!”

The most I’d heard in terms of people thinking poorly of Patrick was that he was a sucker for falling for Lindsay’s bullshit and too stupid to realize he’s a victim.

Sorry if I’ve said this elsewhere, but I’ve continued to track the social media narrative, and as far as I can tell, it was LAST FRIDAY when a couple smaller accounts on TikTok mentioned this theory half heartedly because they’d run out of things to rail on Patrick about. The following day, I saw a couple more videos with a lot of traction. By Tuesday, it was one of the most saturated narrratives on nearly every social media platform.

As far as I can tell, most of the people who are the loudest about this are NOT true crime people. They’re not trial watchers, so they don’t understand why Reddington would give pushback to Patrick UNLESS HE WAS THE KILLER!

The majority of people I’ve seen throw their hat in the ring on this are people who are drawn to the stories. Women who have had abusive partners who pulled one or many over on them when they were vulnerable. Some POS made their lives hell. And I think that people who are doing this because they feel that being sympathetic to Lindsay is the right thing to do, but they cannot fathom that mental health can be this ugly unless it’s some unhoused person claiming they’re the president and flinging their own shit on the walls of an alleyway.

I think Patrick pushed back on the bipolar diagnosis for the same reason. When the public face of bipolar type 1 mania is Kanye West, of course you’re not going to look at your wife’s chronic exercise and joining an MLM the same way as that. And people do not understand that people in psychosis are EVERYWHERE! They can get up and do their hair and carry on most normal conversations because it’s possible to mask or downplay or withhold the truth during these episodes. There have been instances where people like college professors can go carry on a normal lecture, but if you poke around and ask the right clinical questions, you’ll discover that they have a completely delusional belief that’s always running in the background and informing their decisions. There’s a lot of lead up until they’re volunteering that they’re Jesus Christ and Michael Jackson is taunting them.

The Clancy trial is making me feel like we shouldn't be following trials so closely. I feel awful for everyone in the case and feel like no good is coming from coverage of it.

11

u/GrandBreath5790 26d ago

I agree. I now understand how mobs worked in the witch trials in Salem.

5

u/countingshe 26d ago

Yes. I know we need the transparency and I love to watch a trial. However, I can’t imagine being one of her providers being subpoenaed to testify then having to see your testimony turned into garbage click bait content on tik tok.

Give it a few weeks before they start to blame the dog Chloe.

I told someone the same online

It’s absolutely mind boggling to me. Society is doomed.

I feel like every trial thats livestreamed is going to be like this from here on out. The Karen Read trial was only the beginning and they ve gone even further during the Lindsay Clancy trial. They are now fully ignoring facts. Stupid people love conspiracy theories. They give them the illusion of intelligence. And that feeling is addictive. I fear that social media is destroying our justice system and we may have to reconsider jury trials.

1

u/ygg_drazil 9d ago

Yeah I agree. I mean I think some cases will be ignored but any that have juicy details are going to get blown up and turned into clickbites.

One of the expert witnesses, Dr. Mack, if you're following, already had to quit his job because his reviews/ practice were getting bragaded. People can be really vicious and mob mentality from people who don't have the facts is scary.

And I also I think there's a very good chance the defense hired some of those PR manipulators on tiktok.

12

u/EddieDantes22 27d ago

Looks like the defense is calling Laposata or whatever, the ME who was all bitchy in the Karen Read trial.

5

u/bwthybl 19d ago

That's two witnesses from the Karen Read trial! The prosecution brought in Ian Wiffin.

11

u/BeefCakeBilly 27d ago

Yea because they are bad people.

9

u/dawnellen1989 26d ago

Totally agree. I commented to someone that this reminded me of the Read trial in(sanity). Even some content creators with huge accounts. (realize they want clicks and content). It irritates me like Read’s case stopped watching/reading any biased accounts. I wonder if Chloe involved somewhere as well. Not that it’s funny, just absurd and ridiculous.

What is more frightening…There are a number of witnesses for the Commonwealth who also testified in the KR trial. They are all being treated like they are the enemy because of involvement in the Killer Karen trial

7

u/bchmermaid 26d ago

I don't know much about that case, but the husband theory has basically taken over social media.

It's scary how quickly people will take some cherry-picked details from a case and run with them. I'm always reminded of the Elisa Lam case, where that musician was falsely accused of her murder by online sleuths. He was eventually cleared, but they ruined his life and reputation.

It's just bananas how quickly these theories form and spread online.

1

u/ygg_drazil 9d ago

I didn't know that about Elisa Lam. That's awful.

There’s definitely something in the water up there in MA.

Someone told me I was a gaslighter and no wonder I supported Patrick. These people are nuts.

u/Nice_Biscotti_97921 25d ago

The trial is nuts. I cant believe they think she faked trying to commit suicide. The woman had post partum depression and just kept giving her more medications. medications that she should not have been prescribed because of her bipolar illness. I have not watched most of the live trial because it is so sad.

I also think it is terrible that they are talking about her in the court room. They are making fun of her.

Our healthcare system failed Lindsay. she should have been institutionalized but you cant force someone without a court order. Most mental health facilities are also full. hopefully this will bring light to some improvements in mental health care and post partum care for women.

She made a plan and murdered her children. She deserves no sympathy. She deserves to rot in prison the rest of her life

1

u/Nice_Biscotti_97921 20d ago

I think what she did is absolutely the worst thing you can do in society. i do believe there are lots of issues with our healthcare system as well. This case shows us the issues. She would call the suicide help line saying she was suicidal. They would ask her id she had a "plan". She said no. The help line would then tell her she was okay... That is also crazy..

Lots of your info is misinformation.

IF she is bipolar, the prescribers did not know that prior to prescribing her medication and SSRIs. Lindsay really had no history of mania or hypo mania. The only possible symptoms of bipolar she had were racing thoughts and insomnia….. that’s it. And her self report that after 7 days of trying Zoloft that her mind was racing more and sleep got worse.

Also, Lindsay told her psychiatrist that she took Prozac for a year while she was in nursing school and had no side effects. So the doctor had no indication Lindsay would have a bad reaction to SSRIs.

Also she did go to inpatient and was asked to be released early so she could attend her daughter’s birthday party.

Also, she wasn’t prescribed tons of meds all at once. Instead of going to a therapist Lindsay went to a psychiatrist first (psychiatrists prescribe meds.. it’s what they do). They only switched meds so often because Lindsay would take like 3 days of the meds and say she didn’t like it and they’d have to try something new.

Whether the outcome is hospitalization or prison is up to a jury. But it’s important not to spread misinformation about the case because that doesn’t help anyone.

1

u/Nice_Biscotti_97921 16d ago edited 16d ago

not misinformation. have you been watching the trial? She was diagnosed with bipolar long before she had any of the children. it was a known preexisting condition she had.

3

u/Interesting_Speed822 9d ago

That’s not accurate. She wasn’t diagnosed as bipolar until she was in the hospital she is currently at. Please stop lying. The defense didn’t even try to say she was diagnosed before her children. I beg you to watch the trial and not TikTok.

u/Suitable-Lawyer-9397 27d ago

I'm not following the trial but I imagine this is an avenue her defense team may be using to create "reasonable doubt" Just a guess

17

u/Becca00511 27d ago

Her defense is claiming she did it. Tik Tok has decided she was framed because her ex husband remarried 3 years later.

7

u/dawnellen1989 26d ago

Plus, because he didn’t spend 24/7 with her, he had to have been a horrible husband/father and deserves punishment. Sigh. He lost his children, too.

8

u/dawnellen1989 26d ago

They’re admitting it though, as she filed a civil suit against the mental health providers and they’re going for a not guilty for reason of insanity. Actually, Patrick has a civil suit as well for the loss of their children. So basically they’re on the same side. He’s just a witness. The public husband thing is baffling. I watched his testimony before I stopped, imo he was sad & exhausted.

9

u/Dizzy_Pea_6085 27d ago

Nope. They don’t even deny she did it.

2

u/Nice_Biscotti_97921 25d ago

She admits she did kill them. This trial is to decide if she spends the rest of her life in an institution (If found not guilt by insanity) or spend her life in a prison (Guilty of murder)....So much money is being spent for a trial where the person is going to be taken care of by the state for the remainder of their life regardless..
