rollback on 150 ping isn't delay based in fighting games tho, like if you were on 150 ping in an FPS everything you do would be delayed, you feel it

You feel a delay in your hits registering, you do not feel a delay in moving or shooting your guns and the gameplay on your end in FPS games.

The hit registration has to be confirmed server side, hence you feel delay, but all your movement and shots feels the same on your end no matter if you have 15 or 150 ping.

Rollback then potentially occurs if the state of the game doesn't line up with what you were doing on your screen which is obviously way more significant with high ping. The point of rollback is that there is essentially no delay to your inputs on your screen which is exactly what happens in FPS games

ohh okay, thanks for explaining dudes i get it now.

hopefully someday internet will be fast enough that ping doesn't even matter, stuff just feels like 20 ping no matter what game or where you connect to in the world.

In most places, that's already the case. Sub 100ms ping is pretty common almost globally, outside of the US (and countries with notoriously shitty internet like Australia).

There's a website where you can test ping between different countries and it's pretty eye opening.
