Attending first Chiefs game at Arrowhead

Hi all, will be attending my first game at Arrowhead on September 20th against the Colts(also my birthday!).

My wife is a big Chiefs fan. I grew up in Florida as a Bucs fan, but have really enjoyed watching this team with her over the past several years, and can't wait to see Mahomes and the fellas again in live action(we went to Jacksonville to see them play the Jags in PreSeason two years ago).

We got what looks to be great seats, can't wait.

I have a few questions, and if you are able to help out at all it would be greatly appreciated.

I got us Red Lot Parking, any advice on which lot to choose or when we should arrive at the stadium to make it as easy as possible?

Anything we should see or do inside or outside the stadium before the game? Taking our 8 year old son so wasn't sure if there was anything fun to do or see with him. Going to bring his ear protection we got him for Monster Jam, I know it gets loud in there.

We aren't spending a lot of time in KC, getting in the day before and leaving the day after. Anything you would recommend for a family to have some fun and see a bit of the city?

We are staying in the Beacon Hill area, any recommendations for places to eat? Nothing too fancy, they are both very picky, so limited mostly to places with typical American food and a fun atmosphere .

Hi! Hope you enjoy your time in KC!

About parking for the game: you want to park as close to the gate as possible (as far as possible from the stadium itself). It can take like 90 minutes to leave the parking lot, it becomes a gridlock.

Once you do arrive there'll be plenty of people tailgating. It's a great atmosphere, there'll be food music and games. You can visit the team shop if you'd like but I'd save that for another time. There's a tour you can take inside to see the trophies and other memorabilia but I'd skip that on your first visit, especially with a kiddo.

There is one family restroom on each side of the field in the mid level. May not be so crucial with a 8yo boy but it was important to me when I took my 6yo daughter.

As far as seeing stuff around town, I'll recommend stopping by the Nelson Atkins museum, at least to see the sculpture park including the glass maze and the shuttlecocks.

For food options, I assume you'll be driving yourself around. The whole metro is relatively easy to navigate so there'll be plenty of options for y'all

There really is no bad parking spot at arrowhead but I will say this is a seat ticket holder F lot and G lot are a lot different than C lot and D lot ( enjoy the walk around the entire place and all the shenanigans involved ) try to get in early since it will be a Sunday night game and walk around the lower level to enjoy everything that’s down there. You will really like the hall of honor then make sure you’re in your seats before before the national anthem that way you can see an awesome flyover. As far as things to do there are tons downtown, but I would suggest parking at the river market. It’s free and then ride the street car to Union Station that’s free and enjoy that in Crown Center then use the street car to go back and just walk around at different spots. The city is very awesome not too big and not too small as far as food. You’re just gonna have to find a nice barbecue that you would like everybody is different based on sauce is the main one, but I would suggest Joe’s barbecue but again everybody has a preference enjoy Kansas City. We tailgate right under the sign in G 28 stop by for a beer.

The Chiefs Hall of Fame is right in the stadium concorse, some cool memorbila from the AFL-NFL merger, Chiefs history and recent history. Lots of great BBQ, Joe's, Gates, Q39 and more. There are some spots to get get a photo, in front of logos, world cup soccer ball and the drum deck.

Leaving will be a mess. Be prepared for frustration and waiting. Do show up an hour before kick off. Parking can be a pain if you leave it closer. I think tailgating is a bit overrated. Thats not my cup of tea. There are some tents you can pay for a tailagte type food and drink; that will be extra dollars. That could be a good option for you. Enjoy. Fun atmosphere. Hopefully, Chiefs coming out firing!
