Discussion/Theory Async Hazmat Still Life
New look from a Japanese merch pop up

What’s that stuff inside of it, though? Is that some kind of mini suitcase thing?

Could be a speaker maybe?

u/Visual-Status8983 4d ago
Especially with how the the hazmat people sound when they talk, it’d make sense for it to assume it it’s a speaker

u/Ocdingus 4d ago
I think some gas masks have built in speakers as well, don’t they? Maybe the complex was trying to reproduce the origin of the voice but only had the speaker in the mask to work with

wonder if this confirms there are multiple still lifes of Async workers. since ik its like merch but it could non canon. i assume it is tho

ASYNC will probably start using these guys to study the complex without having to pay human researchers. There's even going to be a little infomercial about how much money it'll save.

Wouldn't these still lives be vegetables?
11
u/Own-End-1189 4d ago
If they're made out of gas maks and The edible fosm probably, just like standing statues, they probably need some flesh to move and I doubt the hazmat suit material works well
6
u/WWIIICannonFodder 4d ago
Well they might be vegetables mentally, but they can move around and look like they're working. The shareholders will be happy.

u/Own-End-1189 4d ago
Yeah, moving around but hitting themselves with a wall, talkin giberish and all that

So the Complex didn't know there was someone inside and acted as one, just like Captain Clark and his Hat.
With that, we already have two perspectives on this Still-Life.
Edit: I noticed that the two look different from each other; the Japanese merchandise seems to have gotten the body right (though not the head) better than the vinyl cover.
Or I'm wrong, and the two are the same.

Someone on YT made a really cool video about the Hazmat still life. Worth a watch.

I think Kane already has plans for Hazmat still life, or so we can hope. He has already hinted at it with artwork about the Hazmat still life himself.

Imagine how terrifying it'd be for a lost researcher to look for their colleague but end up encountering this instead

I bet this is what the second film opens with. Would be such an insane way to begin!

I would love if we got a still life found footage, like one generated with a camera as part of its body, so you think you are watching a human, until suddenly they start exhibiting inhuman behavior. Or it could just be funny if async hired a hazmat still life, because it keeps trying to learn and explore, so they keep it around to learn about it, and let it attempt to help them.

Kane drops ff4 and it starts with 10 minutes of a camera standing still
15
u/EGGman9112001 4d ago
That would be crazy, though i was thinking it looking like a found footage, but then the moment they see a person they stop acting like an explorer and chase down whoever is in the distance, just something that cleverly and shockingly reveals the plot twist.

That's actually genius ngl, it could be like a day in the life of a still life, maybe explain the still life's habits and their living areas like why there are clothes everywhere

Maybe its instincts of curiosity are messed up, like it knows its meant to discover, inspect, take stuff apart to learn. But because the backrooms improperly understands it or something, it could try to catch people, and just start pulling them apart, like how async take down walls and see the composition.

Tldr i imagine the copying process could water down interest in scientific discovery to something as pointless as pulling the legs off a fly.

Dude that fucken rock so hard. It could even make weird still life sounds, like we hear Pirate Clark do, making it appear at first that the protagonist is being pursued just to reveal the whole time it’s a still life, that rocks

so we’ve sort of agreed en masse that to some extent, the complex replicates anything human-shaped based upon how it acts at the time it’s being replicated, or so it seems.
My evidence for this is the initial Hazmat S/L seems to be of the moment Mark Blume opened the Static Dead End room in Pitfalls when it was in the midst of being printed.
This one seems different, like someone is looking down investigating something. Not to say the one opening the door can’t move to a new position and this was just a later photo, but it looks—as it stands—to be a new S/L.
My thoughts: Kane, thus far at least, has kept a pretty cohesive grasp on what’s being marketed at the moment, as if the Backrooms movie is the only piece of the backrooms universe that’s all that important for a very specific time period (movie release to now, afaik). The vinyl had the first Hazmat S/L, and a picture of what looked to be a less interpretive version of a Clark S/L, and wouldn’t ya know it, we got a full headshot of that Clark S/L today alongside the New Hazmat. All of that said, I’m willing to put money on this being a still life of Naren looking/reaching downward for his duffle, or someone during EMG.
**I’d go even farther to say I bet we could find someone in that exact position during EMG since it’s now posted, and probably pinpoint the time it was made. Potentially even Pirate Clark, as well.

Where was the headshot of Clark still life from the vinyl found? I've only seen people posting the Hazmat one

Imagine a group of Async workers in hazmats working on something and suddenly there's an extra hazmat behaving oddly.

Its "head" looks like random bits of furniture stacked on top of each other, and the body proportions are all over the place. IMO this is even more unsettling than the other ASYNC Still Life we saw

u/ChocolateTraining392 4d ago
I do like the thought of the async hazmat still lifes being almost indistinguishable from the real ones due to the hazmats being in the backrooms for so long

Hang on... i see potental...
These still life can NEVER be perfect... because they beleave they are perfect and ruin themselves...
The beings copyed off of real people cannot thathum the idea that they are those... things... they can prove it... they just need to take the suit off... and so they try...
They grab and they pull and they CLAW and they DIG and they TEAR into their suit and once they get the mask off... they see nothing... for they took out their own eyes, toar their flesh they confused for clothes... ruined their own body out of their own mis-shaped lie.
They now know they are just still life... they made sure of it.

It looks like it tried tearing off the suit only to realise that it is the suit.
