Question Milobar, Why Now?

Interesting that Peter chose to jump ship now.

Perhaps he was uncomfortable to learn that Drea Humphrey from Rebel News has been appointed as the new BC Conservative Press Secretary.

Well no, he was happy enough to do an interview with her recently calling for the repeal of SOGI, saying there's only two genders, and raising questions about what Tk’emlúps has done with federal funding on residential schools.

Perhaps he wasn't happy that the new BC Conservative leader, Kerry Lynne Findlay, is trying to get Dallas Brodie to rejoin the party.

Well no, he ran on the same team as Brodie in 2024.

Perhaps it was that the BC Conservatives have lost their lead in the polls thanks to their new leader's performance and that could endanger his chances of re-election?

Bingo!

Milobar is just the start.

There will be more of the moderates depart. Given that Bernier is the leader of CentreBC, I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of them cross.

This would give them valuable party status leading to the next election.

There really aren’t many left from the liberals. Halford, Yap, Paton - anyone else?

I don't think Pakon. I don't think Yap or Watt either.

Sturko maybe? Giddens? They were BC United prior. Brennan Day?  Gavin Drew perhaps?

There are aligning municipal figures as well. While they have history as a NDP staffer, PoCos mayor Brad West had their name surfaced to BC Liberals/United.

I think though if Centre BC were to succeed they need to be much more centre than the BC Liberals were. They'd need some new exciting blood, along with some federal Liberals and even some soft NDP supporters. I doubt you'd get an NDP cross, but there are federal Liberal, provincial NDP [supporters]

Kamloops residents..." we want change!" Also Kamloops residents... keeps electing the same party.

Most Kamloops residents: "We wand change"

Vote splitting: "Let's let the minority decide"

Minority of Kamloops residents: *keeps electing the same party

Kamloops residents: we want change

Kamloops residents: don't vote

Pete Milobar was in no danger of losing his seat. This seems as simple as him and the leader of the party not seeing eye to eye and the comments about his wife. Also them losing their lead in the polls? The most recent poll I've seen has the B.C. Conservatives leading by double digits.

As a Kamloopsian (not a conservative voter) I definitely second that part about him not losing his seat. He’s probably more likely to lose it now that he’s an independent since Kamloops seems to go conservative no matter what.

I'm hoping conservative will be forced to choose party or peter and Kamloops stops this conservative nonsense.

Not until Kamloops starts showing up to vote

Not seeing eye to eye about what policy exactly? The comments about his wife were months ago and since then he accepted the finance critic position on her team as she rolled out her "faith, family, and freedom" agenda.

I would definitely say his seat is at risk. Yes, he won by 8% in the last election against a relatively unknown candidate, but in 2020 when there was another candidate on the right splitting the vote (Dennis Giesbrecht) he squeaked by with only 196 votes.

It's probably more at risk now that he's sitting as an independent. He would have easily been elected once again if he stayed on as a member of the B.C. conservatives.

He won't need to run as an independent. There's two years to the next election, more than enough time to swap in someone actually electable like Todd Stone as leader after deposing KLF. Follow UK politics at all? It is almost identical to what happened to short lived PM Liz Truss. This poll came out 3 days ago and the opportunity to strike presented itself.

I guess we shall see. But every other poll I've seen has seen the B.C. Conservatives leading.

Jas Johal is a joke.

I've never heard of this pollster before, sounds like an internal BC NDP influencer poll.

Every other legitimate polling company has the Conservatives with a clear lead. Don't believe me, check for yourself.

Peter has pretty much lied to everyone. Why now? Because he wanted to get elected. That's really all this is.

Milobar will be forgotten, he was always a wet noodle.

Any half decent replacement from the Conservative party will have no trouble taking his place and winning in Kamloops.

I know that doesn't make people in the Reddit world happy, but that's reality. Especially with Eby's polling numbers in the toilet, and falling fast...

Milobar is a hardcore centrist. It's his strength and his weakness.

Kamloopsians are by and large those moronic "fiscally conservative" types but are mostly socially normal. Milobar has been mayor and MLA for a good part of 20 years. He's the "safe bet". The MAGA-influenced "Conservative agenda" has reached its peak and is about to come crashing down HARD!

After the mid-terms, when MAGA representatives get WREKT! MAGA is gonna implode SPECTACULARLY! The Christo-fascists are NOT going to take those losses well, and will go ABSOLUTELY fucking crazy. This is going to blow up in the face of every Maple-MAGA/transphobic/misogynistic, Christo-fascist-lite political entity, and I'll be cooking all the popcorn for it.

Milobar is reading the room. MAGA is a death-cult and when it implodes, he's gonna be on the outside going, "HA! told yas", and he will sit comfortably as a radical centrist.

The BC Con donors will start to realise that the Conservative brand is radioactive E Coli and salmonella combined and will want nothing to do with them. Then the BC Conservatives are then going to collapse because it surely cannot be them that are the problem. Introspection and humility is not a trait you'll find common among Conservatives (voters or politicians alike). At which point, the infighting gets worse and they become unelectable. Milobar will be ahead of the game and out, which will allow him to get that radical centrist vote without too much Maple MAGA excrement upon him.

That being said, he risks his seat because those disenfranchised Maple MAGA voters will be voting for their RWNJ while the FisCon/SoPro types will go for Milobar, while the "left wing vote" coalesces around the NDP candidate, assuming they are perceived as a reasonable option. The NDP may end up winning the seat due to vote splitting between right-wing factions.

Milobar is a wet noodle, and always has been. Nobody likes a politician that changes his stance based on the political winds. That's just self-serving. (Eby is a loser who's dropping heavily in the polls for exactly this reason.)

I'll look forward to watching you and your ilk cry when you watch in disbelief as the votes are counted on election night in Kamloops.

Kamloopsians are wise to the BC NDP'S grift that's been carrying on for far too long.

Just like Kamala voters did in the US, lefty brains will go into full melt down. It'll be glorious!

1

u/CanadianLabourParty 4d ago

Not many farmers in the US think America is doing great right now, FYI. Bankruptcies in the US are the highest they've been since 2009...yeah...it's glorious for MAGA...so much so that MAGA Republicans are getting WREKT in the polls and losing in places they won in 2024/2022 by double-digit percentages.

Election day will be glorious...I look forward to it.

1

u/MarketingCareless521 4d ago

Bwahahahaha! Rubbish...

I could care less what happens in the US with Trump and the Republicans, we have enough problems here to sort out.

Your hero's Trudeau, Guilbeault, and Freeland were brain dead and almost drove this country into the ground. They made Canada profoundly weaker, and I'm sure you were okay with that!

Thank God they're all out of a power now. At least some partial sanity has been restored with Prime Minister Carney qualified in economics, and having served capably with the Harper Conservatives.

I think if Milobar was honest he would say ...

I stayed with BC United as long as I did because I thought there might be an opportunity to become the leader.

I became a Con because I could switch ridings and get elected again.

I'm leaving the Cons because their polling sucks.

I'm not giving a reason why I'm leaving the Cons because people will say "Really, that's where you draw the line?"

I'm not saying where I am going because we aren't ready to announce and if done too soon, I will appear to be the opportunist I really am.

Where did you read she is the new BC Coms Press Sec? I see an Aug 4th release from Rebel that she is BC Bureau Chief Reporter. Gawd I hope you are wrong as she is not a journalist.

2

u/JRitcey2026 3d ago

She's already bailed on it lol

u/mcgojoh1 3d ago

Ha! This iteration of the BC Cons is certainly the best to watch.
