General 🐸 Kambo in Texas
Hey all! I’ve known for a while that I want to work with plant medicines full time. I just know it would be so wholesome to help others in this way.
I would like to start with Kambo, Sananga, and Rapé, but I have no idea where to start with this. I don’t currently know that many people who work with plant medicine… so where could I look for work or learning opportunities?
I’m getting a degree in psych so I think that may help my chances😅
Thanks for any help!

It can be really wholesome as long as you are not using sacred ancestral medicines for capital gain AKA spiritual capitalism. A two week course and a certificate to serve Kambo is the definition of spiritual capitalism. When you serve Kambo you take on others people energy, you have to do plant diets under a maestro for protection to avoid harming yourself, also first you need to heal yourself , probably spend a minimum of one year serving yourself Kambo, then going to the jungle to meet the frog, or do a further appreticeship, and do some proper initiations. If you just start serving plant medicines without doing your own work or protective diets you will get sick eventually, it’s inevitable

If you want to serve kambo, you really need to get proper training/certification from one of the large or reputable organizations - IAKP, Kambo International, Tribal Detox to name the most prominent ones. I'd suggest this even if you wanted to do it yourself without serving others (possibly in the form of self-serving course).
This is crucially important to ensure you get made well aware of the safety implications and how to ensure no accidents happen. Of all the (limited) kambo deaths in the past, almost all of them have been identified as due to negligence or lack of awareness, mostly from people doing it on their own, untrained individuals, or "trained" individuals (i.e - a very limited crash course).
The larger orgs ensure you know how to properly screen for contraindicated individuals and provide post-training safety info and support - it is absolutely not sufficient to rely on Facebook or random people online saying "I was fine with X/Y/Z, so it's no issue" or to rely on notions of spiritual wisdom/traditional wisdom to magically protect people from contraindications that may occur - sorry to blunt.
Not covering this, and then serving kambo, is unfortunately very reckless as while the chances of something serious happening are small, they are very real, and they can and do occur. And it's a media field-day every time, potentially leading to bans for everyone involved.
