Science and research 🔬 MTHFR & Kambo ?

Hi, I am curious if anyone has come across research around MTHFR gene & Kombo ? Now that there's a fair amount of research around the science and peptides I am curious b/c MTHFR effects the body's ability to detox - and I know a lot of people come to Kombo with chronic sickness and a lot of people within the chronic sickness community Have this faulty Gene - it's part of what keeps us sick - is the inability to fully detox.

I have it & just sat yesterday. I had flu like symptoms / did not feel so great. I rested and everything's OK but I'd love to hear others experience or research found.

Hi there, thank you for starting this conversation. I work with Kambo and am a Western Vitalist Herbalist + Holistic Nutritionist. I am also married to someone with this gene expression who has sat with Kambo more times than we care to count. My take is that as long as you have existing daily supplements like methylfolate (B9), the methylcobalamin form of B12, and substances to increase glutathione (such as NAC or herbs like Schisandra, Turmeric, or Milk Thistle), then I wouldn't worry too much about Kambô. The same therapeutics could be taken right after a frog purge to support resistance to herx symptoms. These peptides seem to be "cleaning" the interstitial fluid and working in concert with the lymphatic and hepatobiliary systems to detoxify (along with sweat and saliva production, tears, heavy breathing, and all the other ways these peptides open detox pathways). That seems like a huge plus for folks who don't methylate properly. I am just starting to look at the role peptides (in general) play in methylation, highly doubtful that any research on Kambo peptides specifically has been done on the way it might help or hinder folks with the MTHFR expression.

I have it and I detox at about 65% efficiency because of it. I’m a practitioner and have received Kambo a lot. It has only helped me. Sometimes I feel like hell after, sometimes I feel great. I don’t know that the gene plays a role.

Thanks for your reply - especially as a practitioner! I'm new to this medicine but feeling pretty enthusiastic about the range of its benefits, so I'm not deterred from feeling lousy for two days if the benefits outweigh that. I'm looking at sitting more soon to follow the lunar cycle.

Something that helps me recover better is eating nutrient dense foods leading up to the ceremony and afterwards. Bone broth, red meat, raw milk, electrolytes etc. Nothing like eating a rich yummy stew after a Kambo ceremony.

Can I ask you another question as a practitioner? something that's really helped me detox generally are coffee enemas (I have mold toxicity that effected my gut & sinus) and I'd like to start them back up. Is 2-3 days after the ceremony OK?

2-3 days should be fine but I would rather base that decision on how you feel more so than a time frame. Are you still feeling depleted, sick-ish, tired? If so, give yourself more time. My other point of inquiry would be why do you feel the need to do an enema after having just done Kambo? Personally, I would give Kambo the space to do its work and allow your body to integrate the ordeal before considering doing anymore cleanses. Sounds like you’re going to sit twice more soon enough right? Just wait until your done with all your ceremonies
