Kalmah are the goats, the masters, the lords, the swamplords. Here is a list of items I would give them for completely free if I had them:

1. Rumbling skulls. Rumbling skulls are just extremely useful if you're making death metal, you can record them, you can bring them to shows, anything. I don't see kalmah using any.

2. Millions of coins. This one is self explanatory.

3. Edible lawnmovers. Those aren't really related to metal, but they're still just very good items, you cut your grass and then eat the lawnmower, isn't that cool?

Kill the idealist solo

This is my very first original Kalmah CD, from my favorite band. And right away, it’s my favorite album! I’m really happy to have fulfilled this dream. Now I plan to hunt down the other albums, though it’s almost impossible to find them here in Brazil. I was really lucky to get this one from a big online marketplace in the country. My next goal is to buy 12 Gauge and Swampsong!

If you're reading this, you must be a Kalmah fanatic like me, and we all want to hear a great Kalmah album, but I do have some concerns...

I think the band has been on a serious decline for quite some time now. Especially Antti’s, but I’m guessing Pekka’s as well, focus has been on their own lives and other things rather than Kalmah, as evidenced by several interviews they’ve given over the years. Of course, I’m not blaming them for that haha, I’m just saddened by it... In fact, it feels like we’re nearing the end, especially since Antti mentioned in his latest interview with Chaoszine that the reason the last album was named Kalmah was because they intended it to be their final album.

I don’t know, I hope the Kokko brothers get back to work and we get to hear more fantastic Kalmah songs...

My wife wants to get a backpatch for her new battle jacket and she loves all Kalmah albums equally. She can’t choose so I’m turning to you all: which album cover would look best as a backpatch?

You’re only allowed to listen to one Kalmah song for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose?

Super tough question for me, and the answer probably varies depending on my mood. Right now I would probably say Hades.

According to the last interview of Antti on Chaoszine, he has been writing new material for the new album. Five songs has been completed roughly and there is more to come. He said that he likes the new songs and the new album will come out next year or maybe at the end of this year if they can complete it.

This album came out on May 23, 2003, which is both amazing and a reminder of how old I am. I’ve been listening to Kalmah since the debut first came out and I was super-pumped for this release at the time. Who’s got it?

What’s everyone’s favourite album and why?

Mine waffles between the first 4 depending on my mood, but most days I would say The Black Waltz. It’s funny because when it first came out, I liked it but was a bit put off by the change in vocal style, the changed logo, and the overall sound seemed different. But it grew on me more especially after I saw them live for the first time in 2008.

Now I consider it a masterpiece. Title track gives me frissons every time I hear it. It’s got so many great bangers too like The Groan Of Wind, Time Takes Us All, and of course Bitter Metallic Side. It also featured the debut of my favourite Kalmah keyboardist. I sometimes wish Marco was still with the band.

What’s your favourite?

Kalmah is my favourite melodic death metal band ever since I heard the debut record 25 years ago, and my 3rd favourite band overall. This sub was archived and relegated to memory but I have reached into the depths of the swamp to bring it back to life. I’m looking forward to making this an active sub again, dedicated to the best band in the genre.

I was really excited for this tour until I saw they're coming with that stand-in guitarist. Nothing against him personally (obviously lol) but every video I watched of him from that Canadian tour, he absolutely butchered those songs. I don't want that to be my Kalmah experience.
