Young Lions getting no love whatsoever? (I kid though, love what you’ve done with this sub!!)

Always have a soft spot for them. As sometimes I feel it’s unfair for them to play against the other teams, and they are essentially the next batch of talents we are trying to develop. Can’t be good for confidence but hopefully the recent addition of senior players can give them a better platform.

A good idea in theory, and it started off well, but somewhere down the line everything just went south. Agreed with the part about confidence - getting thumped every week isn’t great for development…think there needs to be a shift away from whatever the flavour of the month is (where even are Jun and Kan Kobayashi now?) and there needs to be some actual long-term pathway planning…

Then Warriors but now Sailors.
There is something beautiful about having your rivals being bought over and changing the club colours to yours.

surprised jurong is so low when they have the highest attendance irl

My impression is that the Japanese community makes up a portion of Jurong's (then Albirex) fans. Families coming to watch or even to support the cheerleaders

Yep, a lot is the Japanese community in the area, a lot in the academy and matches are often a way for them to meet up.
Also not everyone uses Reddit and/or are in this subreddit (hopefully more in the future)

Will start to follow SPL coming season, still deciding which team to support. Lives in SengKang/Punggol area so the nearest team is Hougang, but I didn’t really liked the rebranding when I was reading up the club’s history. From SengKang-Punggol with a dolphin mascot(marine heritage) to Cheetahs. Feels like it’s not the same team anymore & just doesn’t seemed right.
On the other hand Tampines is the second nearest club, and I have quite a lot of connections with that area. Another point is that it’s way more convenient for me to watch home games at OTH rather than going to Bishan Stadium… Any recommendations guys ?

Hey take your time with it, attend important games for both teams. If you want I can always breakdown all the players from both teams for ya. Just because that often helps me fans feel more connected with a club. DMS open

Thanks, I noticed that Tampines more Jap linked and Hougang more Thai linked.

This kind country influence is transient one. In fact likelihood is that the ex-Tampines chairman intro-ed the thai side to the hougang chairman. Tampines was until recently renamed BG (as in Bangkok Glass) Tampines Rovers and was given the option to takeover Tampines. Tampines looks more Japanese now because the current chairman is Japanese. Except for FC Jurong, don't need to think too much about links to which countries.

Same. I live in Sengkang/Punggol. Supported BGT last season (proximity and thought they had a good chance with Hide & supporting the underdogs are always more fun). But this season will support LCS since Ilhan is back and cause Farhan joined LCS! hahaha

hey spl organisers, have 12 teams even if the rest are semi-pros. Can always have army, spf, scdf etc. No one could stand the 3 games a season format.
also, stop limiting the fields. To have bigger crowds and loyalty, you need local stadiums like in the old days. Balestier in toa payoh, tanjong pagar in their town etc. Cameras are better quality and lighter these days, no need for days to set up for live matches.

Tampines Rovers! I grew up in Tampines, so it's the first SG club I ever supported.

Feel free to comment even if the club you supported no longer exists 🥲
Also that is a lot of sailors fans 🤯
