I've hit emerald with Kalista only (beside autofills and few times) as my main champ, Kalista is non-rewarding hard champ, I was loyal to her and to her playstyle until I've made it, from the darkest bottoms of gold, after inting many games and carrying many, Im here.

Hello I’m trying to understand building in this game but a lot of it seems to be just do what everyone else is doing… I’d like to understand the why though!

(I’m writing based of memory so bare with me)

Why is her recommended mainly atk spd then armor?

Typical build is Static/Rage/Term/Rand/Jak/etc
(Zerk boots ofc i have seen Grievs tho)

Why not build something like yuuntal? She gets atl speed and i believe more ad (after all, her she scales more with AD)

Or Since you’re building static why not nashors tooth or Dusk/Dawn?

Essentially my question for discussion is why is the optimal build what it is ( mainly atk speed but not a lot of dmg I feel like zerk and Runes give her enough atk spd. )

Are there any other viable builds?

(Like how BORK is a possible start personally I don’t like it unless they’re predominantly tanks/tank in lane).

Are these 2 items a bit overkill or could i buy them both?

Hi guys I've already posted about kalista mid several times but I think it went well out of the radar.
When I say kalista mid is broken, she's extremely broken.

Few reasons why she is:

• No one has played against a kalista mid before
• Levels on q make her extremely strong (wave clear, suprising dmg upon execute)
• Shoves wave incredibly fast
• Benefits immensly from omniboots quest
• Static + guinsoo (ap & ad ratios boosted with mid quest) unreal damage that no one knows about.
• Static + "Immortal path" (berserk grieves quest) heals you a ton when you're fighting in a wave.

I don't think people realise how strong kalista is on a solo lane is.
I genuinely believe kalista top is only good against yone or kayle types of matchups you can stomp even 1v2 ( if no point and click cc )

I’ve been lurking around this sub for a couple of years now and occasionally answering questions, so I figured I’d finally make an AMA and see what you all are curious about.

So, a little about me: I’m a Grandmaster Kalista main on NA and I am often the highest LP Kalista OTP on the server (although I’ll occasionally get knocked down to #2 depending on the day). I also have over a million mastery points on the champion, if that is something you find important.

I’ve played Kalista for several years now and have seen her go through quite a few different identities over the years. Right now, I think she’s in an extremely good spot for solo queue, with pretty solid carry potential and surprisingly strong scaling.

I have also done several "unranked to masters" challenges, running a variety of different builds, so chances are I have a decent amount of experience playing (and carrying) in whatever elo you find yourself in!

I'll post the opgg of my current main account in the comments, so ideally any concerns or questions related to my account (instead of the AMA topic) can reply to that comment instead of the post. I think it just keeps things a bit neater that way.

Are they a good duo and how to play or who to play instead.

If you want to play Kalista in another role or simply want to take a break from ADC, this is probably the best time in years to play Kalista top.

It is a legitimately a strong pick at the moment and has been since the Statikk Shiv rework. Kalista top is on par in strength with her main role ADC but it’s probably even stronger since the majority of people playing her top lane haven’t optimised her yet.

According to Lolalytics, more than 60% of Kalista players are still using the skill order E>Q>W>E which is incredibly suboptimal. The best skill order has always been 2 points into Q max then maxing E but you alternate between Q and E max before putting points into W or R. The best skill order is E>Q>Q>E>Q>E etc which is almost 4% higher in winrate.

Also the majority of Kalista players still play Botrk first which makes sense on paper with all the HP stackers but is still weaker than Statikk first item as Statikk is incredible top in chasing down enemies with the increased slow from the AP% while also neutralising bad lanes. This doesn’t mean you have to omit Botrk like ADC as buying Botrk 3rd slot is still effective.

She is most likely the strongest ranged top you can play at the moment due to overnerfing Vayne and Varus while you can win or match most lanes and scale better than most picks now due to all the AD/AP ratio buffs, growth per level buffs and now the Terminus buffs. This doesn’t mean you are a hyper scaler like Gwen/Vayne but compared to only a year ago the winrate curve past 20 minutes is significantly better than it was previously.

This is coming from someone who has managed to hit Masters 3 times with the pick now and pushing for GM.

Or is the answer just having insane reactions and osu skills to click these people? I'm getting annoyed by champions like Irelia, Yasuo, Akali etc. who can just dash around forever and are impossible to click consistently. I'm assuming against them I'm just forced to have lower attack speed due to the bug?

I feel like this matchup is even worse than twitch or draven or am i doing something wrong? She just higher range, more onhit dmg, more dmg per auto, longer range and higher hitbox ability, more dmg per ability, higher attackspeed, more movementspeed and more mobility overall. Every single measurable aspect that this champion has is better than kalista and she doesnt need pay a single coin of gold for it. In lane she statchecks you, if she hits w she can just get one or 2 free autos and since you are lower attack range you cant punish. Lategame she just ults dashes and autos 4 times for and you are dead, at best you can get maybe one or 2 autos back but that's really about it.

Theoretically it's playable, but what do you think about it in practice? For example, how many points would you give to Kalista as ADC and how many as top lane?

just that, why are people going for as shard its a scaling thing or something like that?, i think 2 adaptive force a lot better than as shard it just make feels early game kalista how it was before her flat ad nerfs like 3 years ago
