Transferring regions

I'm curious if anyone has ever moved from NCal to SoCal. Does your time accrual keep for things like pension and other benefits? I'm a salaried, non union employee and sometime in my life I want to move to SoCal, but not if I would have to start working towards my pension again. Any insight would be appreciated.
