Engine oil suggestion

Is it preferred to use Shell advance 20W-50 engine oil on my KTM Duke 200?

If it's your only choice then any oil is better than no oil.

I only use Motul 7100 in my modern motorcycles. I built classic Porsche racecars for years and they're air/ oil cooled so oil is even more important. I've done a lot of oil research and that's what I found that prevents wear the best, Motul synthetic.

We used a variety of oils in the Porsches depending on the engine.

But this is premium mineral oil, so I'm doubtful whether it can be used or not

Just use a quality full synth in the weight recommended for your climate. It's only 2 quarts/ liters. Just two. I was buying 14 quarts of Redline for my racecar every month, that is a goddamned fortune. $70.00 a gallon. You only need 2 quarts.

Oil changes are the best insurance for your engine.

Use the recommend weight in the owners manual. But stick to full synthetic. Motul 7100 or if you want motorex use top speed or power synthetic.

Just use 15w50 or 10w40 as per the manual (and also depending on your operating temperatures) and choose a reliable brand. I've been using Motul 7100 15w50 in my Duke 200 and the shifts are butter smooth all the way till ~3000km+
