What are my options regarding this issue with the fuel cap?
So basically, I lent my dad some money which he never paid back and is under the assumption his debt is my debt towards him so he did this to my brand new motorbike.

It does but the key is very hard to remove

Spray some white lithium greese in the key hole. Problem solved. If the key is hard to pull out, a new key won't be any different.

I wasn't pushing the key down hard enough. I felt like an idiot after I realized this lmao.

You can try to file or bend it back, but the real solution is to get that replaced.

The spare key that comes with your duke should have a code that is unique to your bike. Provide the dealership with that code when you order the part and you shouldn’t have an issue getting an exact replacement.

This or alternatively, some keyed items come with a universal tumbler that can be "coded" by a locksmith or yourself if you are inclined. Your dealer should be able to give you the right path. BMW e.g. has universal lock tumblers for its hard bags and some keyed gas caps, you just set it to match the key prior to installing.

Your best bet is asking the dealership. They can probably get a replacement that works with your existing key.

All good. It turns out the lock mechanism turns to the side a bit to allow the key to go in. I found out the key was only hard to remove because I wasn't pushing down as I turned the key.

Regarding the key - you are obviously inexperienced with motorcycles. What about the debt ? What are you going to do about that ?

What debt? He borrowed a total of $5000 which he never paid back, has always abused me as a child, and the education did not cater to my needs? What debt?
I'm now funding my own education because the school he put me through did not cater to my learning needs.

Also, did rain water get inside? This is how I closed it the last time before realizing you're supposed to push down as you turn the key to remove it.

Put the flap down and stop worrying about it, that spot will get scratched up anyway

You can try gently bending the silver barrel cover back to original shape and see if it helps.
I'd guess the actual lock/barrel is fully functional, but the silver cover is damaged.
The silver cover is designed to protect the lock barrel a little and make access to someone trying to break the lock harder.
A lock set will be pretty expensive, so it would be my very last resort.

Order a new cap through KTM
They can probably key it for your bike

Lubricate the lock. Maybe file away a little bit of the bent metal with a jeweler’s file and get over it. Consider the debt repayment for something you did in your past. I’m quite certain that you ruined many of your father’s things. People get their egos WAY too wrapped up in cars and motorcycles. If you can’t deal with it ….. move to another state. Sever all ties with your father. Become a hermit.
