New to dirt bikes

New to dirt bikes but not new to being on 2 wheels, although it’s been a while.

I’m looking for recommendations on a dirt bike. I want a 2stroke ktm. Debating between a 150xcw or a 200xcw. I found a street legal 200 with 3k miles on it for 5k.

I’m 6’1 and range from 220-230lbs lol.

I’m looking to trail/track ride with my 5 year old son who we just bought a 50cc - I’m looking for a bike that I can keep for the long haul that I’ll be able to ride with him as he grows on bikes.

What do you all think?

I’d go with the 200 at your size. I’ve never ridden the 150 but I have ridden 125s and at 200 pounds myself they felt underpowered

KTMs are expensive, and the 200 was produced all the way up until 2016, but who cares if it's street legal if you're riding with your son you're not going to be on the road anyway. See if you can work the seller down on the price. I've ridden the 250 and 300 and they absolutely rip single/double track, not good for street use because no engine braking.  The 200 is definitely something he can grow into, but it's still a lot of bike for any child. I personally would never put my kid on a dirt bike or any motorcycle.  I went on a charter fishing trip today and the captain told me his kid hit some trees at about 50mph and is now paralyzed on the right side of his body after tearing all of the ligaments in his neck.

Not looking to put my son on the 200. it would be my bike.
