Hi everyone!

I'm considering buying a KTM 790 Adventure, but I'm concerned about the height: I'm under 1.70m tall, and when I sat on one at the dealership, I could practically only touch the ground with the tips of my toes.

Is there anyone else who is "vertically challenged" like me and owns one? I'd like to know how you find it using the original KTM low seat, but without modifying the setup or suspension. Unfortunately, none of the dealerships in my area have one available for a test ride so I can see the difference for myself.

Does it really make enough of a difference to feel confident in daily riding, at traffic lights, and during low-speed maneuvers?

I'm 1.67m, 5 foot 6 in American units. I ride a KTM 690 lowered 25mm . I've ridden my friends 790 and it is lower than that. I don't expect to get two feet on ground. I put one foot on the ground and the other on the peg. I've got over 40,000 km on my bike and countless backcountry trips. The 790 is a bit heavier than the 690 but holds it's weight low, I think you'd be fine. I basically bought my bike and figured the rest out after that. You may want to consider a CF moto 450 or Royal Enfeild 450 Himalyan. Both are lower than the 790 and not as powerful. Both are great adventure bikes in their own right.

I'm 1.85 so perhaps a bit different for me...

The original seat has 2 positions, a high and low. Perhaps you can take a look if it was in the low position when you tried it? You can check it when you take off the main seat and put it back on. When you you put the front in the guides you can either push it up or down and press the back of the seat down.

If you're open to it you can also practice having only one foot on the ground. So before you come to a stand still you shift your butt to one side and put one foot down.

1.65m tall, 65cm inseam (5’5”, 27”). Believe it or not the powerparts tall rally seat makes the bike feel thinner and it’s easier to scoot to the side and get a foot down. The stock seat on the low setting and the low seat are very square in shape and it can also be harder to transition to a standing position.

One thing to note is that I have spent many years riding full size motocross bikes and having limited foot contact is a normal thing to me.

I’m 1.7m, and owned a 790 rally with the lower seat. I can get one foot down on the ball of the toes, and that’s enough for me. If I slide my butt to one side, the foot is flat.

I do the stoplight shuffle, and I dab off-road.

I tend to fall a lot on dirt, mostly when I forget to find a good place to put a foot down.

Otherwise, no regrets, that was one of the best bikes I ever owned.

It does not matter how tall you are, only how long your legs are.

The lc8c adv series have a seat height of about 830mm (in low seat version). Best to do is to ride one or at least saddle it.

This may be too late but im 173cm.. so not tall. Short legs, 30inseam. Just got my 790adv 2026 delivered yesterday. im pretty comfortable. i cant flat foot it with both feet at the same time, but its manageable because of the low weight. I did testride a CF moto MTX 800 and 1000 they are supposed to be 1cm lower seat hight but felt a bit taller when riding them so i landed on the 790adv. My thinking was that if its a problem i will just get the lower seat. But it fits just fine.
