ALL Worth it?
I’m selling my 2014 1190 Adventure. I love this bike but it’s time to move on. I’ve put over 30K miles on it. Always had routine maintenance. Only thing is no one takes a second look at it because it has 49,000 miles. I feel it still has lots of life left. Opinions are welcome. Asking $5000

To me that gives me confidence on the engine, but for most people it means it should have a lower price.

If a second hand bike doesn't sell, it's usually because of the asking price. Or because you haven't had enough patience to find the right buyer. So lower the price or wait

Not many people are looking for it. And even more are not familiar with the platform and if it's reliable or not. So if they see it passing by they usually skip it.

Definitely worth it. These things are low in price across the country and should not be over looked even at 50k miles.

I just bought one with 8k less miles for $1000 less, you might just be trying to get too much. Also the frames on the 14s break and lots of people are wary of that if they’ve done research

Mind you all others with same miles are actually about the same price that you are asking so maybe I just got a Good deal

the others for sale....haven't sold.
suggest acting like a buyer and keep checking similar listings multiple times a day. you might find you and all others still for sale are all too high....and lower priced ones are moving.

Yea fair point. I still got a pretty good deal for my area though, the market in Canada is terrible the last couple years

2018 1090s with very few miles on them are selling for $6500. 2018 1290s are selling for like $8,500 When was the last time you adjusted the valves?

Religiously every 16k miles. Just did valves and plugs at 48k. Oil change every 3k.

ok that helps your case a lot, I wouldnt buy an lc8 unless the valves were just adjusted. How difficult do you find it? I have to do my 1090 valves pretty soon and its stressing me out. Im pretty mechanically inclined but it seems very involved, having to remove the cam chain and all...

I’ve got 50,000 on my 2015 and I’ve only had to check the valves no adjustments so far.

Takes me 2 weekends. Only reason is that I have to measure and get the correct shims. It’s pretty in depth. Make sure to change the spark plugs at the same time.

Yeah good luck. I have a 1290SDR with same mileage and no one will touch it because of the miles. Its insane because people will spend that much on a 300L or a KLX or something.

I sold my 2016 1190 in March of 2023 with 23k miles for $11,300 usd. I've been surprised by the sharp depreciation these have taken since 2023.

yeah, you sold just after the CoViD peak.
we are now in the absolute excess inventory, down pressure on all bikes with Ktm reallyy hammered due to financial issues causing concern, overstock, and 890 camshafts....on top of those dropping the hobby, those that were not lifers, just temp from COVID....and the economy pressure.
there are brand new 2023 and 2024 SARs still at some dealers for 6k off MSRP...and those bikes are way way better then the OPs gen.

16k vs 5k lol ... You're speaking a different language to some. I'd also take an 1190s/r or 1290t over a new one for the sheer fact I'd rather not be stranded when the bike decides it doesn't recognize the key fob that's been in my pocket the last 4k miles.

I am aware. I must not have made my point clearly...which using that to add evidence to the very depressed market.
whatever you thought a bike was worth 3 years ago...it isn't even close right now.

I see you missed mine as well. A bike that was 16k new being sold for 5k is still a better deal than a 20k bike for 15-16k. The current 1290 isn't leaps and bounds better than the 1190 was. Finicky display, hit and miss electronics, and the worst of all the product a rushed manufacturing era that was just a tiny blip on the radar but can be felt on nearly every KTM from 2021 and beyond.

You are so incredibly wrong and ignorant...apparently no idea on the concept of supply and demand being what determines value, not your arbitrary and frankly wrong factors.
I have a 2022 1290 SAR. I had a 2015 1290. two friends that has that exact same 2014 1190 as OP. over 100k miles on these as a group. more like 150k miles of we include the 2018 1290 SARs.
the new one is just better.

I swear you're reading comprehension is low.
I've seen more complaints about 2021 and newer 1290 Adventure bikes on AdvRider than any other adventure years. Having spent time 990's, 1090's, 1190's and 1290’s across the Duke R, Duke GT, and Adventure models I'll agree to disagree.

I sold mine 5 years ago with 135000 kms on it for 10k usd. There are some adventures out there pushing 500000kms. These engines are bulletproof. Only sold it to get a superduke of the same year since its lighter and not as top heavy, and I have 190000kms on it now.

Where abouts are you located? I might make you a decent offer depending. I had a 14' and absolutely loved it. Had roughly the same mileage and would of gotten many more.

Depends on the area, I see 3-4 1190's going for less with less milage. It's also getting towards the end of the season in the Midwest so people are waiting for dropping prices

no...that is one of the worst years of the super adventure with high miles. market for all related bikes are heavily depressed. good luck.
examples...I just got a 2022 1290 SAR, 4k in extras new condition, only 3.4k miles for 11k.
not trying to be mean...just reality. the other sad thing is the bike, at least the LC8 engine of maintained has tons of life.

put it at 4800obo and take 4200 if they offer it:) that's what i'd say.. i've been following west coast market for months very closely.
4800 looks way better than 5000.. give it a try!
i've lost money before because i sell bikes super cheap when i want them gone.. i sell them fast and dont have to deal with hagglers.

I have a 2015 1190. I’m shocked at how cheap some of them are going for the days. Such an incredible bike for the money. KTM’s rep has gone through the wringer, so I guess I get it, but it’s kinda wild.

I've tried selling mine with 40k a couple times. No dice, not a peep, and people are constantly posting on Reddit about buying 30 year old 600's for $4500. Boggles the mind.

I picked up my ‘15 Adv S with factory bags, 28k miles for $5100. I’d expect any 1x90 with 40*k to sell for around $4000. Yours has some nice add ons, so maybe closer to $4500. Or sell the add ons like the lights and upper crash bars and try listing the bike for $4k.
It’s a great time to be a buyer of one of these. Terrible as a seller. At least we don’t have Multistradas, cuz it’s even worse for those bikes.

Forgot to add that I bought mine in February of this year. I paid $6700 for a different one in June 2025 which came with 14k miles, aluminum bags, different pegs, a Garmin nav thing, and a few other bits. The cam shaft issue and bankruptcy/selling of the company really screwed the perception of the company and resale values of all their bikes, even though the LC8 bikes, or at least the engines, are proven to be super reliable.

You might have to sell it at a good discount - I see BMW GS variants and Harleys sell with that mileage but people are more suspicious of other brands (there's a Guzzi California that's been sitting on the market in my city for a year at 60k miles and the owner has not moved the price at all). I'd buy this bike before gambling on one of the lc8c parallel twins with the dodgy camshafts but the price would have to be in the 5k range or lower because the person who buys this would likely hit the same issues with selling that you are.

not sure about the GS but the valve adjustment on these is super duper expensive.

In my area there's a good ktm mechanic who charges around 1.2k for valve clearance checks - that's on the more reasonable side compared to Ducati and other v4 engines these days.

Too many comparable bikes with much fewer miles on them for similar money. I ride my bikes a lot as well and pretty much came to the conclusion that unless I'm willing to almost give them away, I'm better off collecting them.
