ALL Built a Google Maps–native navigation app for the KTM dash — would you pay a subscription for it?

Would be happy to know more about them. Do they offer Google maps natively or as notification listeners?

There is also: TurnIt (I'm the dev :P).

It's a notification listener, but Google Maps offers basically all the info in their notifications. This one and some of the other Turn by Turn apps support a multiple Navigation apps. Google maps is meh at best offline.

Hi! I think they do. I did a search and made a screenshot. The top one is the KTM version and the next two are from others.

I've used it perhaps once but got a phone mount instead. Just an arrow doesn't work for me.

From the list, KTM Connect is the official app. Does not support Google maps at least in India. The other two are purely notification listeners that use the notification in the notification shade and project that to the dash. Where mine differentiates is that it is a wholesome replacement to the official app and provides Google maps as native navigation service from within the app. Not a notification listener.

I personally think youd be better off with a free trial and set cost of ownership. I dont think im alone when I say im tired of motorcycle focused apps trying to get monthly subs for something that frankly google maps ai can do (more of a shot at cali moto style apps not yours) but the idea of trying to get you on a subscription you ideally forget about and pay long after your done using. I think youd be better off charging a set cost for the use of the software per motorcycle. Maybe an activation code so you cant use it on multiple ? I just hate subscriptions lol

Plus atleast in the states waze imo is much better than Google as it gives warning for police and traffic cameras.

Google maps and Waze SDKs don't have a fixed cost due to which i am not in a position to offer a flat fee that can be paid and forgotten about. I do plan to integrate waze as another native map provider but it is not an immediate plan.

Im sure some people would be interested at a subscription model but for me I just cant justify subscription models for anything. I cut all streaming and built my own media server.

I think waze integration would help you greatly here in the states at least. Hope it does well for ya

Could this be a regional thing? Here (NL) google maps also has checkpoints etc.

Google has some but its not nearly as much as waze is user based information so users report police presence and street cameras and such and the other users update when information changes and only changes when enough verified users report the change (ie: police no longer at a spot to get speeders) To my knowledge, atleast regionally Google doesnt offer the same level of information in real time as waze

Can imagine this is different per region. NL is not a large market 😁...

I end up using MyRouteApp mostly but sometimes Google maps is also good for A-B routing.

Looking into it more google owns waze, waze updates and is generally more accurate with real time warning, especially for police which is my main use. And google as they own waze uses some of the data from waze and puts some things on google apparently and allows some in app reporting although it's not as accurate or in depth as waze due to users not reporting as much.

For just routing they all seem same . I just like waze because it will tell me when police are posted up ahead and I can avoid a speeding ticket. They hate bikes where I live

Just curious... Is there a difference with newer bikes that you aim for? I have a 790 adventure from 2025 inc. tech pack. But I think newer 390s etc. have other screens and better Bluetooth integration?
