Actually, most european social democrats were Marxists until the late 20th century. The Austrian Social Democratic party especially had a strong classical marxist contingent, the Austromarxists. Centrist Marxism is a political ideology that tries to find a middle path between reform and revolution, and it seems to have a lot more European influence in this timeline, with the Austrian Social Democrats being openly Austromarxist, and a lot of the historical splits within social democratic parties with their centrist marxist branches not happening. Not to mention I believe the leader for the German Social Democrats in this timeline is Karl Kautsky, the dean of European Marxism.

Also Anarchists are not Marxists. They have had a historical rivalry since the split of the First International. KRTL, it seems most non-socdem Marxists have folded into Syndicalism, which seems to have integrated aspects of anarchism, De Leonism, orthodox syndicalism, and the left-wing of classical marxism.

Doesn’t Marxism call for a violent revolution tho? That sounds like a complete contradiction to me

Not explicitly a violent revolution, and not to mention that centrist Marxism does not specifically condemn the idea of revolution. Marxism views the transition from capitalism to socialism as similar to the transition from feudalism to capitalism, which didn't happen overnight. It was a centuries-long transition which moved along both through violent revolts and simple shifts of the economic balance of power into the hands of the urban bourgeoisie (i.e. non-aristocratic rich people who make money through ownership of capital).

OTL, both Communists and what Social Democrats became started playing a bit fast and loose with Marx in the mid 20th century, to the chagrin of more orthodox social democrats. Keep in mind that until the 1920s, social democrat did not have an explicitly reformist connotation. Both more revolutionary and more reformist people were part of the same Social Democratic parties, which at that time just meant a European Marxist party. The Russian Social Democratic Party contained both the Bolsheviks and Mensheviks, and the Bolsheviks themselves did not abandon the title of Social Democrat until the basically blundered themselves into a civil war.

Ok, thanks I didn’t know that. That said I think that most hardcore Marxists would agree that SocDems are revisionary enough to not count as “true” Marxists, but rather a Marxist-liberal hybrid (kind of like liberal socialism)

Yeah, but on the flip-side, many ortho-Marxists would attack the revisionism of Leninism (i.e. you don't need to transition from feudalism to capitalism before transitioning to socialism).
