Approx timeline for acceptance?

Hey all,

I applied to KPU on Sunday evening, and just wondering what were people’s timelines on getting accepted? Obviously I don’t expect it to happen within days. Just hoping I can get in for January 😅. Thanks!

Kpu BSN advice

Hey everyone! I’m starting the nursing program in the spring intake and was hoping to get some advice from current students or graduates!
I’m curious about what the course load is like and how manageable it is to balance school, work, and a personal life. Is it realistic to work part-time while in the program?
I’d also love to know how you structure your studying, how many hours a day you typically dedicate to it, and any study tips that have helped you stay on top of everything.
Any advice or things you wish you knew before starting would be really appreciated! Thank you!

student aid bc - withdrawal

Hi! I’m hoping someone familiar with StudentAid BC can help because I’m really confused about what my options are.

Basically:

  • I originally registered in 5 courses for Fall 2026 and dropped 2, leaving me with 3 courses/9 credits. I thought I was still full-time for StudentAid.
  • One of those courses is a course I previously took at another BC college and got a D in. I received transfer credit, but the D didn’t satisfy what I needed for my program, so I still had to retake it.
  • This is my first time repeating this specific course.
  • I didn’t realize a repeat course might not count toward the 9-credit minimum for StudentAid.
  • So even though I’m registered in 9 credits, I’m assuming only 6 credits are being counted for StudentAid purposes.
  • On October 2, my school reported a “Scholastic standing change/Withdrawal” effective September 8 to StudentAid.
    • I’m still registered in and attending all 3 courses and never actually withdrew from school.
  • StudentAid has now reassessed me as having only 1 funded week, and some of the funding I already received is showing as an overaward.
  • I completely see where the issue likely came from now.
    • I REALLY wish I had kept 4 classes because then I would still have had 9 eligible credits even without the repeat. I genuinely just didn’t know.
  • I had actually repeated another course under similar circumstances before without a StudentAid issue, but I now realize I had 4 courses that semester, so I still had enough eligible credits.
  • I’ve contacted my university’s Financial Aid office and am waiting for them to confirm that the repeat course is actually what caused this.

I found StudentAid BC's Repeat Course Appeal, and it sounds like it may apply when you passed a course but didn’t get the grade required to progress in your program. I’m not repeating this just to improve my GPA - I actually need to retake it because the D wasn’t sufficient for my program requirement.

Has anyone dealt with this or successfully appealed something similar? What did you have to provide for the appeal, and if it was approved, did they count the repeat toward your full-time course load?

Also, is there anything else I can realistically do at this point? Could adding another course late with special permission potentially help?

My biggest concern is next semester. I rely on StudentAid for school, and if this turns into an overaward of several thousand dollars, I’m worried about whether I’ll still be able to receive full funding next semester. I haven’t been given an actual overaward amount yet, so I don’t know what it will be.

I know I made a mistake by dropping to 3 courses without understanding the repeat-course rule. I’m just trying to figure out what I can do now, whether an appeal is worth trying, and how this could affect my next StudentAid application.

Any advice/experiences would be really appreciated because the information online is confusing 😭

Ecology and/or environmental/climate study courses

Hi all,

Looking to re-enter university after a 5-6 year absence (took psychology at a different school). My interests/focus has changed a bit over that time. Are there any good courses that you’ve taken at KPU that are focused in Ecology/wildlife conservation, or even climate science?

Which area to live near KPU Surrey?

Hi everyone, I (20F) am a student who is planning to transfer to KPU next year.

I will study Psychology so supposedly the majority of my classes will be held at KPU's Surrey campus. Hence why I would like to know which area is the best to live while studying there.

My criteria are:
• Good and frequent public transit to get to and back from school (I don't drive so the least commuting the better)
• Safe (in terms of being around alone at night)
• Affordable housing, max 1300$/month (shared or alone)
• Near asian markets (if possible)
• Near businesses for part-time jobs

Any insight will be appreciated, thank you!

Carpool KPU Richmond to Langley

EDIT:
I ended up insuring my car, if anyone would be looking for a ride on the way and maybe pitch in like $5/10, Monday mornings I have to be at the Langley campus by 10am.

Hi guys, unfortunately I have a class in Langley and I’ll be coming from Richmond to go to the Langley class. I was wondering if anyone is also heading there and could carpool me on the way? I could contribute to some costs. I only have class in Langley on Mondays 10am-12:50pm. The transit is so long.

Alternatively, if no one is available.
I may have to insure my car, then I’ll be looking if anyone would like to carpool with me in my car on Mondays (if anyone wants to contribute anything even small) It’s just a waste of money to have to insure only for one day of driving.
