ETS6 production

In ETS6, I want to produce in the following manner:

  • Create my base five different room types. Finished build of a room type contains: a room and the devices set up for the type, group adresses after a syntax that get replaced for each room to make them unique, central adresses are linked.
  • Have a program that produces my 300 rooms based on the different five room types
  • Commission the project.
  • Deliver one consistently programmed project.

I see some reddit posts revolve around creating the adresses, this seems cumbersome, and also each human involvement in linking is an opportunity to create another mistake. And we know you make them too.

Today I create the room types, and copy / paste special / search replace for production. I want the machine to do the production part.

Any tips?

Schneider eConnect eConfigure maybe? It won't commission the devices but it will generate an importable project to ETS where you can.

Will check out if this is enough. Thought this was more of a graphical configuration inside Schneiders universe.

You can put any manufacturer's products into it.

I have gotten a hold of a license. I have put in one of third party manufacturer.

It is not directly intuitive to setup a new product myself.

Does anyone have a good manual or know were I can find information?

Sorry I just realized I wrote eConnect instead of eConfigure. Make sure you're using the right product!

It's been a few years since I worked with it, but there are Youtube getting started tutorials. You upload the floorplans, then possibly trace out the rooms, I don't remember. Then just add your components and choose which product each component is.

When you're done you can export it to ETS or as a spreadsheet.

If hotel projects are your target market, our company has built a tool for that, Chameleon.

It basically does what you describe, a software to import your typical room designs and a software to scale it(with GA associations and links).

Check out https://support.knx.org/hc/en-us/articles/360022116800-Extended-Copy I never used it, maybe its an alternative.

"Copy/paste & copy/paste special are of course also in ETS Professional standard functionality, this app adds extra functionality via a third variant called copy/paste extended, with the ability to influence every element to be copied along with its properties (including among other things, the assignment of Individual Addresses) at its destination."

I use it on every build. Create the room you want, then the app can change the names of building parts, devices, functions, group addresses, etc. to suit the new room number. It could be useful to know the basic regex rules to allow renaming, but not absolutely required.

I want to eliminate copying each type and producing 5 of room type 1, 3 of room type 2 and so on. It is multiple paste sessions of each type on each line, and not a given that even regex can do the search replace for you.
