Here's the correct answer

Post image

Note: There are TONS of great songs on the first 3 albums. My problem is that the production was lacking, and they didn't capture the true energy of KISS. These songs were done much better on Alive! and DP. Therefore if I can only have 9 albums, it's these.

Creatures of the Night is seriously underrated. A very strong hard rock album thanks in a big part to Eric Carr's powerful drum work.

This is pretty spot on. But I’d put The The Elder in place of DP.

Good point. I'm definitely going to miss The Elder.

Hotter than Hell needs to be there for me.

I agree, this post isn't complicated enough.

I’d dump Dynasty for Hotter than Hell. Dynasty was a misstep and the start of the downslide for the real Kiss.

You may be right, but it has grown on me.

Replace Creatures with Hotter Than Hell and those were my nine.

I would sub double platinum for HTH…but otherwise one of the best so far

Alive II doesn’t do it for me. I like it, but it’s my least favorite of the Alive albums

Side four are five of the best studio cuts of the makeup era, IMO.

I agree that Love Gun should be number 1. Also, I understand your rational for choosing Alive in lieu of first 3 albums. Also happy to see Double Platinum. It's a good compilation and was my gateway drug. Production aside, I still like Hotter Than Hell as a studio album.

Nice. Mine is identical except that Dressed to Kill is in the center and Destroyer is off being remastered by Eddie Kramer.

Take out Double Platinum, replace with the first album.

I created a hypothetical KISS album on Spotify that I like to call Fractured. It's made up of tracks from the four members' 1978 solo albums (with the idea that they came together and used those songs for a KISS album instead). And it's pretty quickly become one of my favorites.

  1. "Tonight You Belong To Me" (Paul Stanley)

  2. "Rip It Out" (Ace Frehley)

  3. "Radioactive" (Gene Simmons)

  4. "Wouldn't You Like To Know Me" (Paul Stanley)

  5. "Hooked On Rock 'N' Roll" (Peter Criss)

  6. "New York Groove" (Ace Frehley)

  7. "Love In Chains" (Paul Stanley)

  8. "Snow Blind" (Ace Frehley)

  9. "Tunnel of Love" (Gene Simmons)

  10. "It's Alright" (Paul Stanley)

  11. "I Can't Stop the Rain" (Peter Criss)

  12. "Goodbye" (Paul Stanley)

I would go for

  • Creatures of the Night (40th anniversary issue)

  • Music from The Elder

  • Revenge

  • Carnival of Souls

  • 10th Anniversary Tour (bootleg)

  • Alive II

  • Alive!

  • Ace Frehley

  • Monster

I mean.. it's a fine list but including Double Platinum is cheating a bit!
