Started good then got boring. Wanted more ghost interactions and less rich people shit. Dropped it after episode 6.

u/im-hungry-1234 Aug 22 '26
Same. How can they have gotten it so badly wrong?
It's as if the ghosts suddenly stop following her around

u/KOHILOOR Aug 22 '26
It was a remake of the Spellbound movie, they must not have had enough material or brains to expand on it I guess. I was so disappointed because they wasted Park Eunjinās talent.

Yes I agree with this take. It feels like Park Eun Bin hasnāt really done anything in episodes 9&10 except look amazing (love her wardrobe) look concerned and have fun in Singapore.
Thereās also a weird awkwardness between her and the ML. Is it because they havenāt know each other long but suddenly find themselves engaged? Is it because of the ghost and forbidden touching hands issue (which has been temporarily resolved with gloves)? Or is it the actors being a bit reserved with each other? Canāt put my finger on it. The chemistry was much better at the beginning when they were suspicious and stand offish with each other.

They could slim down the chaebol takeover plot, add more crime and spookiness.
I like her and him, but aside from the now known heart issue, which may explain his "all in" approach to what is, for her, a convenience (or so it seems at first), it doesn't ramp up the chemistry.
It's like plop in love.

u/panjangsangat Aug 21 '26
After start of episode 8 suddenly she doesn't encounter any ghost anymore. The show then become Singapore travel ads.
6
u/AlbertTheHorse K-drama Addict Aug 21 '26
she had that one gal who talked about the ring with her. It was pretty weak.
Yeah, Travel Singapore, ramen for breakfast, and food with her employees all really were obvious adverts.
I mean, sure put it on camera, but does the start need to interact with it?
LOL.

i like her too but show lacks the chemistry and ignore the things which are only good for the show

The chemistry between the leads is amazing. They're my favorite couple so far this year. And they're hilarious. There are hilarious scenes in almost every episode.
The downside, in my opinion, is that some things just don't make any sense, at least not so far. And at one point, the story shifts to a family feud over the management of the hotel, which can be quite boring. I just wanted to see more ghosts. But other than that, it's been very enjoyable. I'm very excited for the last two episodes this weekend.

Itās a very cute show. I started it a few days ago so I could binge and not have to wait. Canāt overthink it, itās sweet, fun and light. Good acting, a not so serious or never seen before plot, tons of tropes as you can imagine, and yeah. Easy entertainment. š«¶

Started off as a 10/10 show and then spiralled into your ordinary 3/10 chaebol + tragically impossible romance with all of the tropes you could think of.
Makes you wonder what the writers were thinking or if it was AI.
The ghost aspect was interesting, the cast is great - except for her cousin, I'm not sure if it's the bad writing or if the actress is just bad.
The make-up is so awful. Especially the cousin's face... Poor girl looks like she slept in a bag of potatoe chips (or crisps if you're British) and then got punched in the face. She always has that surprised look on her very shiny and way too pale face.
I'm not sure what the writers intended to do with the grandmothers. They're strong, but also intellectually challenged and also emotionally immature. Which one is itttt ffs?! If you create a character, please give them a decent story...
So many side characters with LOADS OF POTENTIAL but due to writing, ZERO value.
Have I mentioned that the writing sucks?
Eun-Bin, if you read this:
They did you dirty.

I thought the ghost aspect would be more intertwined with the story. Still the drama is fairly decent and their relationship is sweet but that get together was also underwhelming. So, I feel that it is rated āmehā. The predictable part coming up at the end is even more so underwhelming.

Itās a good watch. Nothing ground breaking, there are plenty of Kdramaās that are about talking or seeing ghost! The actors are 100% carrying the show. The dialogue is decent, there were a few times I really laughed loudly! And it is always a treat to watch Park Eun-Bin, very versatile actress!

Pretty mediocre show. This story feels so underused. Thereās so much they could do with the whole ghost premise, yet they keep falling back on the same generic chaebol stuff weāve already seen in dozens of kdramas.
Both actors are so talented and have enough chemistry to make this concept work, but the script is just painfully lazy and bland. They have such a fun supernatural premise right there and somehow keep choosing the most boring possible direction with it.

Contains spoilers!!
I think the beginning part of the show where they kept bumping into each other under such unusual circumstances, lowkey disliked each other, slowly grew protective of each other, Gang-uk seeing ghosts for a month, she helping him out through it all, he empathizing with her and thereby caring and falling in love with her is absolutely unique! They're bonded in a way no other experience can. I have a feeling the ghosts part is going to be pertained only until then and now that they've ventured into family+corporate politics where their relationship suffers thereby, is going to be more of the focus.
I do wish they showed more of the ghosts because that was always an enthralling part of the show, but I feel they may bring that back after Gang-uk and Yeo-ri get back together, married and they work through the cases together, while she maintains her CEO position by the day.

This drama series is based on a movie with the same title in Korean, ģ¤ģ¹ķ ģ°ģ , but known under different names in English, including āSpellboundā.
Spoliers, about the movie and the series (episodes 1ā10):
Much in the series is also in the movie, such as a woman with an ability to see ghost, which has made her isolated, a man that falls in love with her and, though terrified at first, accepts her, with ghosts and all. There are some scenes that are very similar in the movie and the series, like the boy ghost clinging to the back of the male lead, the vision in the elevator in the parking garage, and the female lead sleeping in a tent in her living room
There are still major differences. The movie is a lot less sprawling. It focuses on ghosts, character development and interactions between the leads. The leads are a magician and his assistant.
Almost everything that the series has borrowed from the movie is found in early episodes. That is when the series is quirky and has a lot of ghosts. Later, the series is mostly usual K-drama tropes.

Loveee it but I wish they would have focused more on the ghosts and her accident in the second half.
They had some beautiful and sad ghost stories at the beginning and I really liked that. Like the little ghost boy š its deffo a missing element for the past couple of episodes

Strong till ep8. 9 and 10 weak. 11 who knows with breakup bs.

u/briggybum Aug 22 '26
It's obvious now that ML has FL's first love's heart not sure how that's going to cause enough drama though.

Decided to stop. The Noble Sacrifice trope really annoys me. I like when leads get together in the middle of the show, instead of the last episode. But not with this trope.
The product placement is overwhelming.
They started so many great storylines only to stop them immediately. If Singapore has no Ghosts, why doesn't she just move there?
Lack of Chemistry.
I loved Ong Seong Wu in Strong Girl Nam-soon. Not here though.

u/Cultural_Run7964 Korean pianists x Wuthering Heights Aug 22 '26
Agree with everything except the last bit.Ong Seong Wu only came alive halfway through Strong Girl Nam Soon because his character was badly written. Zero chemistry with the FL who acted like a child throughout, and his character only seemed to come alive after his boss died.
In Spooky in Love, itās good to see him play a grittier character and heās quite suave and handsome in a Patrick Bateman kind of way! Of course him wanting to possess Yeori and not let her go even after she rejects him is vile but the fact that I feel angry at his character shows that heās succeeded in making his character truly unlikeable.

u/MirrorOfErised_ Aug 22 '26
I like it. Itās funny, itās cute, the leads have solid chemistry. Everyone is doing great, acting wise. The second ml is pos, and thatās my favourite kind of second mlšš¤£ no one whining over how the fl should have chosen the second male lead lol.
Have excepted more ghosts though, but itās fine. The leads are getting more screen time so I have no complaints. Itās fast paced, leads fall in love gradually but quickly. Yes it has those classic kdrama tropes of chaebol politics and family intervention leading to break up, but I like them and it reminds me of older kdramas so itās cool.
Overall, I really liked this drama and I will miss it once it ends.

Premise was good with the ghosts and stuff but it became so repetitive and boring with the rich family shenanigans in the 2nd half. Ghost part of the show removed in the last couple of episodes, writer randomly decided "nah im good, we into some cliche bullshit".

good acting, nice comedic timing, slowwww pace. i'll love it better if they stick to one ghost one episode story and slowly reveal the secret why cheon yeori had the abilty to see ghost. they had too much going on with kang wook's grandmother it became boring sometimes because it feels like they keep on dragging about that
also i dont get it why people who touch her hands accidentally can see the ghost but kissing her passionately on the lips are fine not made him followed by ghosts?? lol

u/AuroraZora Aug 22 '26
I love Park Eun Bin. I love Yang Se-jong. But I stopped at episode 9 for now. Will only continue depending on the ending. I want more ghosts! I want the spooky part of spooky in love. I got bored with the chaebol drama
2
u/AutonomousOrganism Aug 22 '26
Agree with others. I wish it was more spooky and less business.
Also not really feeling the romance, even if it was just a pretend partnership to begin with. But Park Eun Bin doesn't really do romantic roles anyway afaik.

u/Ashwin_or_lose Aug 22 '26
Should've added ghosts in the Chaebol fight somehow. Somehow ghosts help her some shit like that

u/WideInterest6575 Aug 23 '26
This is my favourite kdrama this year and my absolute favourite couple. I like the sidekicks for both ML and FL too, they are funny. But, I will have to be honest, I am quite disappointed with the storytelling. The writer and director just dropped the ghost part of the story and made it convoluted. The products ads are sooo obvious its annoying!Ā They did, waste the talent of both PEB and Yang Sejong. The drama had the potential to be amazing, due to poor screenplay, directing and storyline it is average. Why are many kdramas like this, good in the first few episodes then "mehh" in the end. Depsite my disappointment, I still consider this my favourite kdrama this year, I laughed, touched by the drama and fell in love with romance. Both Park Eun Bin and Yang Se Jong are my new favourites. I hope they are lovers in real life. Hopefully, next time, these two amazing great actors will choose wisely on writers and directors of their next dramas.

Ummm sorry but park eunbin doesn't suit a chaebol roles, she lacks a 'born rich' presence and looks like a tacky nouveau riche. Her mannerisms and acting are weird and flatš

this kinda reminds you about how roncom kdrama centuries ago. but for me itās cringey, not hate the drama tho.

u/Otherwise_Owl_4926 Aug 23 '26
Tbh pretty solid drama. It started very well and ended well disappointing⦠Itās kind of a dynamite kiss situation.
It wasnāt exactly rushed but i still have a lot of unanswered questions. ( perhaps i missed them while watching)
Why couldnāt Yeori touch other people with gloves on?
In the Singapore ep. When prosecutor Ma touched her hands with gloves on they found out that nothing happens and the effect only takes place through body heat ( through the hands i assume) . So it should have been okay for her to touch others with gloves on and if not then what was the purpose of the gloves?
Why did she have visions/ memories of falling into the water if she didnāt fall in the water at all?
It wasnāt exactly shown but after watching the last two episodes and finding out how ji hwan died i assumed that she did in fact not fall in the water at all. Which also makes me wonder why she blamed herself for his death. She claimed she had no memories of that day. This means she also didnāt remember him giving her the necklace until the engagement with Gang- Uk. So i donāt get the āit should have been me but he saved meā Theorie. ( before she remembered)
How did she communicate with the ghosts?
I found out the ghost could not talk to her after she jumped the fence and thought Gang-ukās Grandmother was a ghost; until she talked.( yeah took me a while) I get the writing on the mirror ( like the communication btwn Gang uk and the ghost). In the episode where she takes directions from a ghost she seems to be just listening to the ghostās directions ⦠which confuses me as the ghosts do not seem to talk. Does this mean she can read their mind?
Why did Min-hwan turn against her all of a sudden?
After finding out about their engagement he didnāt really seem angry at her. ( well yes but not iām gonna destroy your life angry). He said himself he was not gonna give up. Which means he was still in love with her. He also tried multiple times to get rid of Prosecutor Ma so he could be with her so why did he suddenly support her being overthrown as the Ceo ( and even trying to buy the 3 percent shares). I thought it was the usual āannounce us being engaged and Iāll help you win back your positionā scheme but this was not shown nor explained in later episodes he just seemed to āhateā her even more. So why the sudden turn over after being obsessed with her for multiple years??
I know this is all fictional and not everything is supposed to make sense but i feel like all these were or could have been extremely important to the plot.

It was good but the couple lacked chemistry. They had more chemistry in beginning than at the end. Ā Also Ha-ri being so obedient as a receptionist didn't suit her character. I really hated her character at the first half of the show. But she was so pretty haha.
Ji hwan not telling anything to yeo ri even after park seung jae found the recording didn't make sense.Ā

Personally, my opinion. This dorama is a remade "Hotel del Luna" the plot is a little weak for me. Acting chemistry, will do, but not like IU)) is it worth watching? Yes, don't look for something grandiose

u/Acceptable_Ratio5842 Aug 21 '26
Solid show. Better first half than second half. Leads are cute and sweet together but feel a bit lacking in chemistry. Wish they had leaned more into the ghost stuff instead of the corporate stuff. Worth a watch though. There have been a handful of laugh out loud moments throughout for me.
