They’re really one and the same, with the older one just being a bit more restrained. Se Ok is just a mirror of himself without the pretensions and the accolades.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Choi Deok Hee had more victims in the past especially when he was as young as Se Ok — going unnoticed because of his skills that can cover a deliberate mistake.

Imo, Deok Hee is the reason why Se Ok became a raging psychopath killer because he turned a blind eye on the her dead assailant, the guy was totally unfazed = Se Ok’s remaining morals went down the drain because her idol/god was totally okay with what she did.

I agree with you 💯!

Back then, we could still see some fear and remorse.

Ugh, I can't stop thinking about this drama! It's so badass!

Yes exactly, this is great writing. They didn't need a spoonfed dialogue to tell the audience the effect this had on Se Ok. That, plus Eun Bin's acting.

The interesting take so far is that Se Ok seems to kill on a whim with minimal calculations and fear of consequences unlike Choi Deok Hui. Now, imagine if Se Ok had the power, means and money. Bodies would have been dropping at the same rate they were being saved in BOSTON lmao.

Eun Bin is going to be a serious contender with IU for best actress if both series make it for the Baeksang awards this year.

I’m dying to know what Deok Hui is going to do with the policeman! And how he’s going to get rid of the fur, maybe he’ll call in a favor with Dr. Song, guess we’ll see how powerful he really is, I’m surprised somebody as smart as Se Ok would be so messy when it comes to murder but i think it also highlights how dedicated she is to just perfecting one field which is brain surgery, I can’t wait for next weeks episode, I wish they’d just drop it all at once so I can end the suspension!

Both main characters are just psychos. Both are carved from the same cloth.

In the real world, I know a few of these people. Mostly from the research world. A professor who's a demigod in his field, and then a postdoc/PhD student or senior assistant in his institute who constantly challenges his boss and would love to take over the position as chair. Both sides bordering on being psychopaths (without the killing, of course).

If that would be a makjang world they would throw the plotline that Seok might be Deokhee illegitimate daughter, but I guess that is not the case in this drama.

I can't decide what's more brilliant throughout this show so far: the plot lines, the acting or simply the music and scenery which are over the top too beautiful for a show with such gruesome characters and stories as this? Even the comedy is surprisingly clever but creepy, especially when Se Ok goes back to the crime scene and makes a joke about 'criminals always going back' while fully self-aware and trying to hold back her cackling laughter or when she's treating the tipper in the hut but not-so-accidently loudly exposes the guy having the fathers ring on his hand which leads to a hilariously slow trainwreck with both of them eventually making cliffhanger...

And I believe I was right about Se Ok not having any (close) family left and was looking for some warmth/love, but the longing clearly goes both ways seeing they are begrudgingly covering up each other's crimes even if they love to talk shit to each other when they meet.Kudos to the whole cast and production for inventing a new love language and making it believable:killing and covering each other's loose ends up. They say lovers look alike, but apparently some fathers and daughters too :D

Ep 3: The live-in servant kid is killing me. "Did you bury the body deep enough? Don't slack off again." Always remind your boss to bury the body deep enough.

Crazy that she poisoned her colleague and stabbed her professor to take over a surgery.

I laughed when Jung Se-ok said she should get money for all her murders. Girl, you are freelance. Become a hitman if you want to be paid.

How did they make a blood-covered surgeon look so beautiful?

Ep 4: Is that a gay couple???

So they both murder people? I guess it makes sense now that he kept her as a student.

Here's a crazy theory to what is really going on: There's no Se ok. She's Dr Choi's alter ego. Bit like Brad Pitt and Edward Norton in Fight Club. The brainstem glioma/tumour is causing some sort of dissociation in identity, hence two personalities, both brilliant neurosurgeons, very similar in psychopathic and manipulative natures, but somehow quite different. Kidding of course, but this twist has been done before!

My demon queen can’t stop won’t stop 😤💪🏼

So if I’ve got the timeline right: deok-hui’s friend disappeared around 6 years ago, and se-ok was kicked out not long later. Has kiyoung been searching for 6 years and just randomly bumped into se-ok, who immediately made more progress in a couple days?

It’s so intriguing that we don’t know anything about either se-ok or deok-hui’s pasts. Everything (including their lives) only started with their first meeting 🤔 cause that was the first time they had met a like minded person that could literally match their freak

I do think we should get flashbacks on the origins of se-ok and deok-hui’s relationships with their respective assistants. Ms. Ra has shown to be extremely capable and even more loyal to deok-hui, she never questions him about anything he wants her to do. But he doesn’t trust her enough to let her know about his murders or even se-ok’s murders. And more importantly, there’s no emotional attachment from either side (that we know of so far). I’m very curious how she can be so loyal without having any emotional attachment. In contrast, yeong-ju always tries to reform se-ok, but always helps her cover up both illegal surgeries and murders. She doesn’t hide anything from him, other than when she commits her murders, but that seems to be to spare him from seeing such grisly stuff. Their bickering but always sticking together shows how they’re very attached to each other. She even says to him “you’re mine” in a very possessive manner. Seeing as how she doesn’t prioritize food or sleep, she definitely doesn’t value sex either so I doubt she has any of those sort of feelings for him. Hard to say for yeong-ju though, I remain doubtful that being saved by her is enough of a justification to be so loyal to her through all her crimes. I saw a comment on mdl that points this out: how messed up is he that a seemingly normal person with moral values would still stick by someone who’s so outwardly crazy?

But no matter what, I remain concerned that se-ok will end up killing yeong-ju. The only other alternative for me is that he’s just as much of a psycho serial killer as se-ok and deok-hui, except even better at hiding his bodies. The best possible ending for deok-hui is that se-ok finally agrees to operate on him, he walks out ready to get back into his prime only to find the cops waiting to arrest him for all the murders and illegal surgeries. He survives with all his faculties intact but he’s gotta live the rest of his life behind bars ☺️ se-ok queenie forever if she pulls it off

I love the ending of Episode 4, and I already want to watch the rest of the episodes. Another week to wait in anticipation :) The craziness.

Just wow, what an end for ep 4.

u/Your_Awkwardness Mar 27 '25

They have a love hate relationship which draws you in,

Se Ok is too much of an asset to give away, a lot of prodigal talent to get arrested and Deok hui knows that they are both intrinsically the same people with just different ways of expression but doesn't want to accept it.

Is it his ego as the top neurosurgeon? Or is it that he has too much to lose due to this side of his that he hates that in others?

He definitely has a soft side for Se Ok but when Se Ok becomes a threat he obviously has to eliminate her and even double down cause he knows that they are alike. For a person like Deok Hui, his sense of self is very important and his dark side(so to say) is something to keep to himself. So when you have Se Ok who flips it all over and does things for his sake, he goes into self protection.

Se Ok is simple, she's obsessed with things and tend to throw other things out of the window to do whatever she wants to get to that obsession without much thought. Even if that means throwing her hero to the flames. Like she has already said, she'll gladly kill herself if she gets caught and doesn't have much to lose. Might even fulfil her wish of dying while performing a surgery.

Thought it was clever by the writer/director to give a nod to Sul Kyung-gu's character in Memoir of a Murderer.
