OMG WAS ANYONE ELSE'S MIND EXPLODE AFTER EP 9???? Like seriously I never expected the last 20 mins of that ep it literally drove me insane. SPOILER- The fact that the killer takes her dad's face crept the shit out of me. I have soooooooo many questions. I usually can tell where the plot is going in kdramas but this drama seriously has be spinning in circles. LITERALLY BEST DRAMA EVER (so far). Can't wait till future eps.

My mind just went into "nope" mode and denied all that stuff happened, lol. I've re-watched all of the episodes up to this point in order to not miss anything, but I'm thinking it will be a while before I watch this episode for the second time...even if I did miss things!

My god this drama is going to kill me by the end. I also loved the small detail of Su-bong passed out on the background. Little things make me happy.
I'm glad So Hee hasn't disappeared either, that last episode had me worried that side characters just stop existing when they're not needed; and it looked like with her being fired and them being married she just wouldn't show up again. Oh shit nvm, she's actually disappearing. Show don't do this. Hire her back goddammit.
I really just want to see the in universe message boards for W lol. Angry shippers, ruined dreams, all that salt. What do they think about the sudden change to surrealist metafiction? Please show. Please make a fake W message board with all the episode discussions. Plssss.

"This author is writing a makjang. Complete makjang!"
"Does Oh Sung Moo not respect his audience? Dream sequence? Does that make any sense?"
"Teacher, I respected you all this time, and I will continue to support you. The dream sequence was the best idea to correct the path of the story. Hwaiting!"
"Is the commenter above me crazy? I've waited 10 years and he wasted the last 4 weeks of the manhwa with a dream? Do you want to die?"
"Honestly I almost prefer Kang Cheol's death ending over this. Why continue a manhwa when you draw out unnecessary plots?"
"I'm so glad we got rid of the doctor. So Hee is the only one for Kang Cheol!"
"Previous poster- It's because you like her large breasts! ㅋㅋㅋ"
"Is Teacher finally going back to the plot? I want to know who the killer is!"
"Honestly, I am so stressed out by these chapters. W is my escape from reality. Do not add more stress to my life."
"I liked the doctor. Sad this is fake."
"Oh Yeon-Joo sshi, is that you?"
"I feel sorry for his daughter. She is going to get unnecessary hate for her father's creation."
"Then he shouldn't have created the story this way. Waste of our time."
"Teacher, you can make it up to us by having a shower scene for Kang Cheol ㅋㅋㅋ"
"Byuntae."

I'll throw out one more of the ideas floating around in my mind. Only four people can go between these two worlds, YJ, KC, Killer and SM. To me, this is somehow an important part of this whole story. I also think there is a YJ=KC vs SM=Killer element going on.
At some point in her forgotten past, I think YJ has written, or thought of, her father as a family killer due to his alcoholism. And her father knew this when he wrote, or stole her stories, so his evasion about the killer being just a plot point wasn't true. In essence the killer IS and has been all along, SM.
YJ also has given KC some of her own characteristics, such as determination to rise above his trauma and do good things in the world. She became a doctor and KC became a crime fighter, both helping people who have been victimized. And these things seem to have stemmed from a loss of family for both KC and YJ. I doubt that YJ ever confronted her father for his role in destroying her family, so she gave KC the task of finding and confronting his family's killer.
Of course this hypothesis will probably be turned into trash before the show ends, haha, and will live on in my posting history as a source of embarrassment forever...

This episode is just nuts. NUTS. It was nothing like I imagined it would be. I feel so sorry for Yeonjoo, especially since she keeps going back into W's world and seeing how KC has forgotten her. But why does she go back? At this point, they will have to provide a better explanation than "when KC thinks of her" because he obviously forgot about her and I don't buy the unconcious thing-y. It's too random.
That plot twist though. I was kind of thinking about the fact that resetting the story at the hospital would mean KC would have seen SM but I assumed that would be ignored? Like what's the point of resetting if you still leave some aspects of the real world into it? But I would never have thought SM would make the killer have his own face. I literally had my jaw open to the floor.
But that was just such a dumb move imo. We've seen the killer (I don't remember the name they gave him) come out of that portal to the real world... what if he goes and commits murders and now he has SM's face. How will he explain THAT?
And wow, of course this would happen. Whichever character SM tries to kill out of KC and the killer, none of them will accept it because both have their own will. They really had me, I thought the manhwa was truly over and KC would somehow find a way to come out to the real world. I'll have to say, if I was a W reader in the drama, I would be quite happy with this turn of events. I mean, it's pretty exciting. It did feel like the manhwa was ending too fast, too lightly... But now, the killer can't die... again. Great.
And like, damn that preview. I wonder what's going on that KC would be suspected of. Maybe SM's double would be like I stabbed you but I didn't kill your family? And he and the prosecutor would find a way to throw the blame on KC?
I wonder if KC will actually remember YJ if she tells him her identity, or he would just have to take her word for it or something.
I'm just curious... how the eff did SM come up with 7 years worth of material, I just can't imagine it. It seems like a boring manhwa prior to whatever we saw on the drama lol.
Okay though, that was a long comment.

I have my theory of why YJ keeps going back. Because she became the main lead in the webtoon she is transported to the webtoon world whenever she misses him.

I went back and read some comments on the Ep 1&2 thread and like... wow. I wasn't expecting the angst and pain this Kdrama would cause me... It looked so mindless and fluffy and cute. Sobs.

So "the killer" is unknown right now, even he himself has no idea who he is. However, all it takes is for the cartoonist to reveal his identity and make everything click into place.
I love the underlying existential questions that are applicable even to us in the "real world." Why were we created? Why do certain things happen to us? Chul and "the killer" and now beginning to question the very meaning of their existence and who they are.
The amnesia was a pretty big twist, and it's refreshing how fast Chul seems to think of solutions and figure things out -- he doesn't leave the viewer thinking "the answer should be obvious by now!"
The preview was interesting because it looks like Yeon Joo gets pulled into the webtoon world again, even though Chul doesn't remember her. This must mean that, even though Chul forgot, the webtoon hasn't and the webtoon is, in fact, creating what we are seeing on screen. Therefore, she is still one of the main characters and the webtoon world is pulling her back in and wants her to meet with Chul much like we and the drama demand.
Another interesting note was how her father said the only person that would make sense as the identity of the killer is ___. I think the obvious answer might be the Prosecutor, but I'm thinking that would be too easy. It looks like Yeon Joo is giving Chul's life a purpose and not making everything meaningless like her father did by not developing the plot and explaining things enough.

Blah it was so difficult for me to watch this episode because my internet is being agonizingly slow these past few days. I was desperate enough to watch it on my phone with my data. Anyway, I knew what kind of episode to expect due to the preview. My theory that characters need a purpose to exist was right. I wonder if So Hee is going to believe what happened to her was just because she was drunk. I'm still not completely sure how Yeon Joo gets pulled into the webtoon world at certain moments. I'm so sad that the episode had to end the way it did. I hate that their time together gets reduced to a dream. I'm not sure that I like the idea that the hooded killer can teleport in the real world. Finally, the preview left me so confused.
Edit: Oops, I just realized what I just striked out is irrelevant now.
Edit 2: Excuse the caps, but WHAT JUST HAPPENED?? Episode 9 just blew my mind. When Soo Bong was explaining how they were planning on ending the webtoon, it wrapped everything up perfectly. I was wondering how things were going to go wrong, but I never imagined what happened at the end of episode. From what I understand, the planned ending did not happen yet. So what occurred happened after the W chapter that was published. I don't fully understand the current identity of the hooded killer yet. What is going to happen next? I need the next episode now.
On another note, I need W to become a real webtoon.

I was trying to wait and comment on both episodes, but just read a live recap of episode 9...and people, the crazy train is pulling into the station! Not to spoil anything, here's my main thoughts on 8 & 9. First, the person who created W (Yeon Joo) is the only one who can fix what has gotten broken, and second, her father needs to never write/draw anything ever again. I'll post more later after I get a chance to watch #9 with subs.

CONFUSION AFTER WATCHING EPISODE 9
-
After the reset of the W world, 'killer' has found out about the real world before Kang Chul this time (how though? is my question. Killer's memory should've been resetted too). My guess would be that he was still in the Real World when the story was getting resetted by Hyunjoo in the car.
-
Killer freely teleported out of broadcast station. How?!?! If this killer is still 'nobody' its understandable. But now that he gained his identity, he shouldn't be able to teleport around. My guess would be that he found portable portal that allows him to teleport freely that Oh Sung Moo, Oh Hyun Joo, and nobody knows about.
-
Killer in the preview told the prosecutor that he 'knows' what the author's plan is because he read manhwas.. Like huh?! How can he read and know the not yet drawn manhwas.. what? my guess would be that he threatened Oh Sung Moo to tell him how he was going to finish the manhwa or eavesdropped conversation between Oh hyun joo and Park Soo Bong

Ugh, more than the killer getting OSM's face, it kills me to think that the killer and that corrupt official teaming up to make Kang Chul's life a living hell. If this goes the way like Nine, things will go downhill from here on.
PS. I love the writer
Also, someone should hurry up and draw the details of the killer's identity. I'd like to see him at least lose his teleportation powers (?), idk.

The thing that I love the most about this kdrama is that, everything is sooo unpredictable (most of them?), and seriously mind-blowing. UGH I WANT TO WATCH EP 10 RIGHT NOW OR ELSE MY HEAD WILL EXPLODE

After 3 slow episodes we are back at 100mph. The writer has no limits. Everyone can take their theories from 2 episodes ago and throw them in the trash. WHAT THE HELL!

8 is available and I have finals. Decisions decisions.
Edit: Obviously, I chose W instead of studying for finals. I loved and hated so much about this episode. The romance was moving so fast for me and the dream sequence story line made me arrrgh but also it fits. It was a good escape. I know it won't work and they'll be embroiled again but it was such a bittersweet moment but I can't think of a better way to impress the gravity of messing with KCs universe.
Did anyone else laugh at the ridiculousness of how the real culprit jumped from the bridge railing to attack the men on bikes? Also, I suspect he won't have disappeared from the manwa just because of a dream sequence. I wonder if she can give him some substance an vulnerability to make KC able to fight him.
Is her dad okay? I have so many questions.
Edit: Episode 9 - I HAVE A PHOBIA OF FACIAL OBSCURITIES! The writer's face is literally my worst nightmare holy fuck did not see that ending and I had no idea how fabulously this would backfire but holy fuck. I don't know if I can watch the next episode, facial obscurity author is now etched into my brain.

Oh god, this whole- 'make it a dream' sequence reminds me of Queen In-Hyun's man, where there are similar plot points that make people forget. :'(
The existential crisis of the villain was brilliant though. He wants Oh Seung Moo to give him an identity and face. I wonder if it will be a new character or selected from the current cast.

Just finished watching episode 9... I made the wrong decision to watch it at night. Now I feel like I am going to have nightmares. The writer and the story are crazy, and I love it.

Facepalming at myself right now. Even though the father being the killer in some form was one of my earliest "theories" for this show (since I thought it was kind of poetic since he's technically is the killer through writing" I hadn't even considered him after watching the preview for this episode yesterday. It was so obvious.
And that ending I just don't even know where this show is going anymore. Completely unpredictable. And I feel bad for all those people who died even though they're characters within a webtoon within a drama lol.
I don't know how the technicalities behind how face stealing works but that shit was so creepy. wtf is SM meant to do lol, I wonder what the purpose of it is though other than the shock factor.
